Re: Maximum Football 18 Impressions/Feedback/ Game Details
Somebody had found a bug where depth charts weren't being refreshed, which has now been fixed. But that fix allowed us to overhaul depth charts completely.
We created the option to switch between Canadian and US depth charts (there's an extra guy in Canadian rules).
Which then forced us to change the depth chart screen and begin using an OVR rating field. This will dynamically update as you move players around. So if your Kicker has an exceptional leg and an okay arm. Then he might be a 74 as a QB but a 89 as a K.
We are testing this out tomorrow and hoping we can include in the first patch. But by somebody reporting that bug, it led us to come up with a proper fix and improvements elsewhere.
We also saw this with people reporting phantom tackles. We adjusted the physics engine to decrease the phantom tackles which also improved the physics-based animations. One fix leads to others.
Keep the feedback coming.
-Is there anyway of seeing individual stats during the game? You just see team stats
-When I try to play CPU v CPU, sometimes if there is a penalty I get inserted into the game to a random team and I cannot change out of it back to CPU v CPU. Any way of changing this?Comment

I haven't heard about the CPU vs CPU thing, that sounds like a bug. What console are you on?Owner, Spear Interactive

I'm in season mode currently and I was trying to simulate to the end of the year, yet it stays frozen at 4% for simulate game on Week 8. Went to re boot the game and it goes right back to where it is frozen.Comment

After playing a few games I can sum up my impressions in one word: Potential.
With some gameplay refinement and a graphical boost this game could be great in a couple years.
Spear, please stick with the game. You have built a solid foundation. That is really hard to do for indie devs.
I suggest buying this game if for no other reason that to support this dev team to make this game even better.Comment

After second thought, the CPU v CPU thing happens when my controller goes to sleep after inactivity.

What was your last play now rule set you played vs the season play rule set?

What’s crazy is the 2018 version was built by one guy (every single aspect). This is also a full time gig, it’s not a side project for us. Now that the team is 3 people as of release, we should be even more efficient going forward.
The biggest thing you guys can do for us is spread the word. We are completely self funded and everything that is made goes back into the game.
The extra $17 we get in another copy sold, could go towards renting a motion capture studio for a day instead of us using an older mo cap suit that we have. It could go towards a Unity environment or lighting person that could greatly enhance visuals. These are all little things that could be game changers.
We are on a shoestring budget, but man if we get an extra $10K in sales than we expected that can go a long way to improving the game.
I can’t wait to get the patch out to you guys because it has tightened things up. The list of things to improve will always be long but we are chopping down the list every day.

I may have mentioned this before, but a Kickstarter where you guys get the funds to hire a couple more developers to rapidly improve the game would be great. Essentially, you are selling pre-orders on Maximum Football 2019.Comment

Spear, is there anything in the works, or perhaps future ideas, of getting the CFL on board?
Don’t get me wrong, I like the game and don’t mind the generic teams, they’re close in look anyway. I just think it would be cool to have the true CFL teams.
It’s amazing the work you few guys have done. There’s an incredibly high ceiling for this game

We will continue to seek out a license. There was prior discussions with the league but there wasn’t much interest from them to do a console simulation type game.
We understand a license helps with legitimacy but it may also handcuff us creatively. We like how we have the freedom to offer three different rule sets and what that could mean for a Franchise mode.
If we get the game to where we want it to be, I think a license will find us when this is all said and done.Owner, Spear Interactive

Re: Maximum Football 18 Impressions/Feedback/ Game Details
Purchased this game yesterday. It's bare-bones, reminds me of Madden 02, but is impressive considering only one person made it. With three guys now, it'll be interesting to see how your product evolves. A few observations and suggestions below:
Short-term
-USA 16 team helmet logos -- the helmet colors on these static logos don't correspond when you edit team colors. They change in game play, but not on the team logo. For example, if you change the Washington team to the Toronto Argonauts, the main logo's helmet colors remain Washington's maroon and gold rather than Toronto's navy and powder blues. Not a big deal for a first launch, but would be nice to see this change for the OCD types.
-WRs spacing isn't realistic -- in the game the outside WR always lines up on the sideline hashes, which is way too close to the sideline. He's basically standing on the sideline. No one ever lines up that far out in real football. The spacing between all WRs should be adjusted and balanced for realism.
-Someone already addressed the stadiums -- would be nice to have options in different geographical locations -- mountains, desert, tropics, plains, downtowns, etc., and have the weather reflect the locale.
-In rain games, the perimeter of the screen is constantly graininy and looks as though you're looking at a mirage in the desert. The video pixelates and gets wavy, almost like it's sweltering.
-Play menu is simple and I like it. However, it would be nice to pick up where you left off after running a play (i.e., if you ran a pass out of Spread, the play menu will take you to Spread rather than cycling through from the beginning).
-Ability to run no-huddle.
-WRs sometimes run into one another on slant routes and then continue to run in place while still running into one another. They don't avoid to each other to get open.
-Need an option to speed through or streamline the Kickoff process after scores -- it takes too long from the time you score to the time you actually kick off.
Long-Term
-Customization -- more uniform options, multiple uniform combos, helmets, etc.
-Logos -- would be neat to see you implement an NCAA Teambuilder- or NBA 2k-type logo and uniform feature. Would definitely be a game-changer in the football gaming world as there very few options on the market.
-Playbooks -- more play options, custom playbook, maybe even create or edit your own plays.
-Multiple seasons -- been mentioned by others. Similar to a "logo" option, this would be killer.
-Stats -- more in-depth game, individual, season and career stats.
-I don't care about real rosters or not, fictional ones are fine as long as they're realistic.Comment
