    Re: Favre to the Vikings?

Brett Favre: "I just want one more shot at retirement."

Amid rumors of another return to football, Brett Favre finally broke his silence about his motivation for coming back to football after giving it up on two other occasions and it has nothing to do with the Packers. In a statement released today, Favre said:

"I know I can still retire. All I have to do is get my arm fixed and find someone to give me a chance. Teams out there know that any time I put on a uniform, there is a good chance that I am going to retire for them. I'm just looking for one more chance...I been there twice but when you have been to the top, seen the confetti flying, family and friends so happy they are crying and look down at your hand and there is that gold watch, it is hard not to want to do it again. I've been in this league sixteen years and when you get old like me, you start to realize that there are going to be limited opportunities for you to retire and you have to take them while you still have some gas in the tank. I mean, what am I going to do, retire from lawn mowing? There isn't any glory in that, I just do that at my house and I don't even make any money doing it, I can't retire from my employment with me, that would be silly."

Seriously...this madness needs to end. I love Favre, but am so sick and tired of hearing his name in every offseason the last couple of years.

At this point who even cares...We've all seen what he is now as a player, and how his age (among other things) caught up to him down the stretch.

Him going to Minny will hurt their chances, and he'll likely get another HC, on the hotseat already, fired; which for the Childress haters is probably a good thing.

The funniest part though about this is reporting another Brett Favre come back as if it's MJ coming out of retirement in '95 to win 3 more chips.

Tim Pawlenty(Gov. of MN) supports bringing Brett to the Vikings. He says, and I quote, "There would be a collective gasp heard around Lambeau when he steps out of the tunnel in purple."

What an idiot. There would be a collective BOO! heard in Appleton.
When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”

There'll be such a loud boo just outside Toronto that you'd hear it too!

Seriously, I want Favre to come back to the Vikings just to see how badly he gets boo'ed in Green Bay.

And, hopefully, to see him fail yet again.

                Re: Favre to the Vikings?

Look at it from Farve's point of view. He is going to a team that won their division last year and is favored to win it again this year, with or without him. They have the best RB in the NFC. He can get away with 20 or less passes per game and save his arm. They play indoors. He also gets 2, or possibly 3 additional indoor games. No real weather problems. He can basically call his own training schedule. Now add on the fact that an old QB took a losing team to the Superbowl from the NFC last year, and you can see why he would give it one more shot. The revenge against Green Bay would also be sweet.

Frankly, I think he is a Diva, and that his family can't stand to have him around, so they keep baiting him to unretire. I hope he loses every game except the two against Green Bay. That would be just too sweet.

Favre's perspective is that he wanted to be on one of the 3 teams that played the Packers twice so he could stick it to them. He tried to force his way on the Vikings last year and was noticeably unhappy when it didn't happen. All the other gravy we can smear on it doesn't really matter. Everybody knows why he may play again and why the place may be Minnesota. I feel bad for Packer fans who have to see him be so selfish that he's only motivated to see their team go down and help that happen. I feel bad for Jets fans who should now know (if they didn't already) that his heart wasn't into playing for them at all and he wasn't trying to be a member of the "team".

I don't think people are even upset with his still wanting to play. The problem is why he still wants to play. It's pathetic at this point.

I'd love for Favre to come back and continue throwing interceptions like its nobody's business.

I rather see him not come back to football ever again than fail. I'm just tired of him.

Ugh, looks like another season of Farve love fest on MNF each week.
