Re: Favre cut by Jets, how long
When I was in your parts, there wasn't much support for Campbell these days. I thoght he was subpar at best last year. The Redskins were far more dangerous offensively the year before with Collins in there.
Regarding Flacco, I was referring to Farve more as a backup that might see playing time. Flacco was good, but against good teams, he looked very much like a rookie. Much better days are ahead for that guy though.Comment

Re: Favre cut by Jets, how long
. It's just too bad that nobody is showing the greatest QB, and one of the best football players ever to play the game any respect.
But for some reason though, people want to give him ALL the credit for last year with the Jets and blame Aaron Rodgers for our struggles when he was HARDLY the reason why we went 6-10. I understand everything Favre did for us and appreciate him for that but I don't understand why people want to give him TOO much credit for our success in 07.
And I don't think it's the fact that people aren't showing him respect but it's the fact that for the past few years he has constantly tried to put himself ABOVE the team and only seemed to care about himself and how he always has to be in the news EVERY offseason and I think that's why a majority of people are growing more frustrated with him.#RespectTheCultureComment

Not even the case. It's the fact that people want to give this man ALL the credit for 2007 but ignore the fact that the Defense as a whole got better and that everybody on Offense got better AND the fact that he got to play in a QB friendly system that limited his mistakes.

Re: Favre cut by Jets, how long
You are exactly right with the years I have been a Packer fan. 1989-2007. I was 10 in 1989, so that makes sense. Obviously it is hard on me to watch the Packers without Favre because that's all I've known since I was 12. It just seems like nobody is giving Favre the credit he deserves. How many QB's play their WHOLE career without missing a game? Favre was 38 and was putting up MVP numbers in 2007. I think people fail to realize the impact Favre has on his team. His enthusiasm for the game is contagious and the Packers played better when Favre was around because of this. It's just too bad that nobody is showing the greatest QB, and one of the best football players ever to play the game any respect. You will never see a tougher football player maybe ever again.
Someday I will be a Packer fan again, but that will most likely take Thompson and or Rodgers leaving.Comment

Favre's not going anywhere as a backup and there's no way Baltimore would want him as one. The way he treated Rodgers, why would anybody. Coaching is not in Favre's future, I can't see anyone wanting their QB to learn from him. He can't teach anyone to play like he did.
What good teams did you see him play against that made him look like a rookie? Certainly not Dallas. My guess is you're talking about the Steelers who the Ravens played on national television 3 times. The Steelers #1 D made a lot of QBs look like rookies.
You should probably dig deeper before judging. The Pack D had injuries starting in training camp and were banged up throughout the entire season. They weren't playing with the same players. Did you even see Rodgers' stats? Did you even watch him play? Or did you just hear about the 4th qtr stuff and then were happy because the team was losing and there was something bad to say about him?Comment

Re: Favre cut by Jets, how long
Its pretty obvious you didn't see the games last year. Jenkins was out most of the year so they had no pass rush from that side. Barnett was out half the year, and Hawk played through injuries all year. Harris was hurt half the year and Woodson played through a turf toe. Bigby was hurt for the first half of the year and when he came back he was not the same player. He continiously had the wrong angle to the ball. Well, thats half the defense. Not exactly the same d as in 2007 when everyone was healthy.
And while Rodgers isn't Favre, let me tell ya, no one is. I almost said you have been spoiled but lucky is probably better. Majik and Favre have been a lot of fun to watch at qb. But Rodgers does have the competitive attitude and drive to win football games and lead his team. He is having as much fun out there as Brett did. It was obvious he is the leader of that team.
Your comments sound like everyone I have talked to who watched ESPN highlights last year instead of the games. A qbs success in the NFL comes down to intangibles. Rodgers has that in spades. He is already a top ten qb and will get better with more playing time. Its not to late to hop back on the bandwagon.
edit-I forgot to add that Brett had that competitiveness you spoke of. But fans were about 50/50 on whether he should even be playing from 92-94. Some were still calling for him to be benched half way into 95 when he won the mvp. (My grandpa is in his 70's now and not the sharpest tool anymore, still says they need to "bench that Favre" everytime Rodgers throws an interception.)LOL!Last edited by shnuskis; 05-01-2009, 03:44 PM.When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”Comment

Re: Favre cut by Jets, how long
Honestly, I think Favre on the Vikings is an interesting scenario. I'm as sick as everybody of hearing about him and at this point he's not as good as he thinks he is. But with the pieces the Vikings have, they just need him to drive the car, and he might be willing to do that with a guy like AP behind him and a solid O line like they have. Really, it's the ONLY team I think has a shot at working. Just so happens it's also probably the only team that would consider it so it's definitely not out of the question.Comment

I really hope he doesn't go to the vikings. All the Vikings fans I know don't even want him. I have been a Packers fan my whole life, and to see that would make me so madComment
