Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
Anyway, so far I like the Colts draft. Hughes was a great pick and a guy I really wanted. He's a lot like Mathis and Freeney. Some people have him listed as an OLB, but he won't play that for us. He'll be a DE and contribute as a rusher. We've needed a 3rd pass rusher for awhile. After Mathis and Freeney, there's never been anyone there to fill the void and it sucks when one of those two goes down with an injury or even leaves the game for fatigue reasons. Now we have Hughes to fill that spot, plus he's a replacement for Raheem Brock who we lost through FA.
Angerer, MLB from Iowa, was a bit of a reach I thought. I didn't see him as a 2nd rounder. He's not someone I was looking for per se, but I don't mind the pick. He fits the way we play defensively, good physically/hard nosed, good runner, and he adds much needed depth to the position. I just would've rather we waited as there were some other guys there at that pick and Angerer probably would've been there in the 3rd for us too.
Kevin Thomas, CB from USC, was a good pick I thought. I liked it, it was just a bit surprising as he apparently has consistency/under achieving issues. But Bill Polian knows what he's doing and I trust his decision to draft a guy like that. He is very talented. Good man to man and that should help as we played a lot more man last year than we usually do.
No real surprises for the Colts draft so far. We've gone all defense which doesn't come as a surprise to me. The only position on offense we could use help on is offensive line, but we have bigger needs defensively and I think we filled them today. Now hopefully we go O-Line tomorrow.Indianapolis Colts
Indiana Pacers
Indiana Hoosiers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish

I was hoping the Packers could get Dexter McCluster, but hopefully Joe McKnight falls into their lap. We need a RB with a little more speed then the guys we have now.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
I wanted Colt to go to a team with a run-game and a defense.
not one of the worst teams in the league.
edit: I really wanted him to go to the patriots so he could be steve young to tom brady's joe montana. and I was born in Boston and am a huge Patriots fan, so it would have been perfectLast edited by Maxattax3; 04-23-2010, 10:35 PM.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
-I have no idea who Mike Neal is. I could pretend, but I would be lying. I'm obviously not pleased when the Packers take someone who I've never heard of, but it's hard to get too mad when I have no idea if I like him or not. Felt like a reach, probably was a reach, but whatever.
-I really like the Morgan Burnett pick. Atari Bigby isn't all that great, and this Burnett kid is apparently a ballhawk and a pretty decent tackler. The knock on him was that he took plays off or something, I feel pretty confident Al Harris and Charles Woodson won't let him do that. Bold Prediction: Morgan Burnett is Green Bay's starting SS week 1. I think he's going to come into the preseason and perform that well.
Other teams:
-Is any team having a better draft than Seattle? Russell Okung was a slam dunk first round guy. So was Earl Thomas. And I had seen people that had Golden Tate going in round 1. Great value there. They still have a ways to go, and if they're going to be any sort of competitive this year Hasselback has to stay healthy, but these 2 days were a giant step in the right direction.
-Cleveland had like 3 different chances to take Colt and he STILL falls into their lap. Credit to Holmgren for not selling the farm to trade up to get him.
-I really wanted Dexter McCluster for Green Bay. I couldn't believe Kansas City took him. He's going to be their Darren Sproles. They might've reached a bit for him, but I think he's going to be dynamic.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

I'm not enamoured at all w/Carolina's picks so far. We need defensive line help badly so what do we pick? An enigma of a QB and a 5th-round hybrid QB/WR.
If you wanted a WR, Fox, pick Eric Decker...you wouldn't have been sorry.Last edited by Speedy; 04-23-2010, 10:40 PM.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Colt should be able to sit and learn for at least a year and hopefully by next year we can add a #1 WR and we'll be on our way to being much improved.Favorite Teams:

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
Hey we have a pretty good run game, Jerome Harrison went off last year when he got the starting job and we drafted Montario Hardesty which should make our running game even better, we're building our defense up through the draft.

but could he even beat out Seneca Wallace for the spot in the couple of seasons? Colt is going to crush Wallace and Delhomme on the practice field starting day 1... Ill bet on that, but i guess I just dont see anyr of those 3 QBs doing anything with the Browns.
I guess the Browns could be good in a few years, but to see your favorite CFB player for the past 4 years go to the Browns isnt a thing that makes me happy.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
The Patriots are geniuses. They somehow managed to come away with FIVE players today AND were able to add a 2nd round pick for next year. Add in the 1st round pick they got from Oakland for Seymour(which should be a top 10 pick) they now have 4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds in '11(two 1st's and two 2nd's). I hate them.Indianapolis Colts

As for Ward, I know about his hits, but I was curious as to how his play is when he isn't making highlights. Does he get burned often? And what was his ankle problem?Too Old To Game Club

Re: 2010 NFL Draft Thread
We just drafted the best CB, a hitter at Safety and another RB. Add that to the 8th best rushing team in the NFL, a great offensive line and, oh, the best QB evaluator in the NFL and I cannot see how you can hate McCoy going to the Browns.
As for Ward, I know about his hits, but I was curious as to how his play is when he isn't making highlights. Does he get burned often? And what was his ankle problem?
I know that sounds stupid and ignorant, but I truly believe that if either Ward or Hardesty's injury history was a true risk they wouldn't have been taken. (At least I hope so)

Hmmm... When is the last time they won anything? When is the last time they havent been one of the worst, if not the worst, team(s) in the league? Who is the last good QB to play well for Cleveland? Who is going to catch the ball?Last edited by Maxattax3; 04-23-2010, 11:19 PM.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment
