Yeah, you can take his comments as saying that he's proud to be on this Jets team and thinks it's formidable for the long haul, or take it as him taking a shot at his old team. I'll say he meant it as option #1, just because I don't think he's out to get the Chargers. Yeah, maybe a little "I told you so" is involved, but I don't think he was deliberately trying to trash his old team.

As for this Jets team being better then any of those SD teams, that's impossible to say at this point. You're defined by the end result. Those Chargers teams would be held in higher regard if they had done anything in the playoffs. If they had even made a Super Bowl (let alone won one), they'd be listed more as a team when going over the last decade of NFL history. Alas, they're going to be lost in the shuffle. You remember who wins in the Super Bowl, not who had the best record in the AFC in a given year. I can rattle off Super Bowl teams from the past 10-15 years off the top of my head, can't do that for best records.

    NFL - Buffalo Bills
    MLB - Cincinnati Reds

        Tough to disagree with this.

That one sentence is my main point about everything. We all know that there are a lot of things that go into a win or a loss or a player playing well or not playing well. But football is about results and nothing more. The why's and why not's of what happened simply don't matter beyond the final result.

TheWatcher, you really haven't presented anything to back up your claim though. What player (let alone RB) do YOU know to have played with an injury like that or worse? How'd they do? What other big games are you talking about when LT didn't show up?

You're saying that just bc BK doesn't know of any doesn't mean it hasn't happened... but if you introduce the idea that he should've been able to play through it, and play well then it's really on you to present examples to support your claim. Otherwise, I'd be inclined to believe it would've been a miracle to do what you're suggesting. And I don't know what other big games you have in mind so that's the only one I'd be thinking about also.

Also, every injury is different. There are some that it's just about playing through pain, but a ligament tear/strain is not like that. It makes it impossible for you to cut effectively, no matter how tough you are. So just because there's players who have played with fractures, broken bones, and other really painful stuff, doesn't mean LT should have been able to play.

As far as his comments. I don't think he's taking shots at SD. I think the reporters phrase questions in order to turn something benign in to something bigger than it is. Hell I tend to agree with him, this Jets team may indeed be better than any Charger team he's been on.

If he is taking shots at the Chargers, who cares. That's his perrogative. He gave the majority of his career to that team and their front office basically wasted his career.
