Gates makes plays and beats coverage that Miller simply isn't capable of. They aren't even close to being in the same league.

How do you figure Gates is a "horrible" blocker?

I realize you are a Raider fan and you've really got nothing to brag about but come on let's stay near planet earth.

I like how he said Gates has "decent" hands. One could argue he has some of the best hands in the league.

Gates is the guy that opens up the entire Charger offense, it's pretty hard to say that about Miller and Oakland's offense.

He also had Gates behind Owen Daniels. He's a Raider fan. When you've been that bad for that long you lose it I guess.

Raiders have had some really good players for some time, they just haven't played as a team since Gruden was there, and that's not all Russell's fault.

The organization is still rotten at the top, until that changes they'll be held back.

So are we looking at another make or break year for a former 1st round pick of the Raiders? For being a top 5 pick, McFadden has hardly lived up to the billing.

...and then there's Richard Seymour, the guy they're paying like a high 1st round pick but wont get the decade of production out of like you would even out of a mediocre 1st.

Broncos have another excuse for their potential futility this year, Schefter says Elvis Dumervil may be out from 4 months to the entire season with a pectoral problem. Still being determined how badly he's injured. Will give Elvis time to figure out how to spend the $$43m in guaranteed money in that contract they gave him just weeks ago.

I like Bushes chances better than McFaddens ...but easy there I got all my marbles , I call it how I see it .Check last years stats Miller out played Gates in the two games they played vs .... Couldn't be that Raiders D could it ?? But all-in-all we're better than we where last year and the chargers won't be. Read my post All Around TE is not Gates . Hit him a couple times he'll slow, run the ball he won't show...... And I totally agree we draft horribly. we drafted Janikowski in the first round ?? But we still have the most super bowls in the west imagine if we drafted like a normal team . There would be no tuck rule

Agreed, I miss chuckie.... Why not blow a first pick on Seymore we've been gettin our better picks late anyway , for the most part we always have drafted defense and gotten offensive players thru free agency .

Because even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often. All Seymour does is ensure the pick that was traded to the Pats - and every subsequent pick in that draft - goes down a spot or two. After 2 seasons he'll have gotten I am guessing close to $30m out of a Raiders team that isn't a contender, and won't be there for potentially the next decade helping the team improve like even a mediocre first round pick would have.... that's why I wouldn't like the Seymour trade if I was a Raiders fan.

As a Chiefs fan, I love it, but that trade is something a playoff team should have done in order to try and get beyond the playoffs and into the Super Bowl.

True but he's helping the team on and off the field I think the d-line can learn alot from him ..... With the money tied up the next year or so we probably couldn't afford another high profile draft pick ..... Just looked up our drafts , the last winning QB we drafted was Ken Stabler .....wow

Antonio Gates is a better pure TE than Miller. Miller may block better(that I have no idea, and really nobody can really judge that) but Gates is a way better receiving option than Miller.

Raiders. With the additions on Defense, there run defense should make huge strides. Forcing people to pass into one of the best secondaries in the league. Not worried about the running game at all, Bush is a monster, McFadden when healthy is trouble as well. Only hole left is the passing game. As I see it they have 2 very solid passing options in louis murphy and zack miller, if chaz or bey(unlikely) can step up they could easily win this division. Looking at last year without Russell they were a completely different team. Beating teams like the Steelers and Bengals. And when they are able to force people to pass they have the skill on defense to get after the QB and create mistakes like they did vs the eagles last year. The skill is there, the question is if the will is there as well.

First of all last time I checked Gates doesn't cover Miller and Miller doesn't cover Gates. Next, if you really knew anything about the Chargers you would know they struggle big time against TE's, it's really just that simple. Finally, considering all the games I've seen Gates play I've yet to see a team take him out of the game mentally.

Since DEN just lost their best defensive player for most of the season(he will be back in dec) the only real threat to the Chargers are the Raiders and they are unproven. So looks like San Diego will win it once again. Will be interesting to see how the Chiefs play this season though.

With the Dumerville injury today our chances went from 50% to about 10%.
