Jones goes on to have career years in NY. Then they eventually just release Benson anyways, whom they kept over Jones. And he goes on to have a monster year in Cinci (I think it was a fluke, personally, and that massive amount of carries already caught up to him). Then they ignore their horribly aging defense and non-existent offensive line for a few years to draft Forte, and a pass catching TE in Olsen. Then trade their top picks for Jay Cutler and Gaines Adams. His death was really sad and everything, but I still found it humorous that a team that was in the midst of a number of bad trades/draft choices, then goes to trade to a guy who literally dies on them.

Through all of this, the Bears lost their identity. I don't know what they are now. They're not a defensive team. They're not a running team. They're kind of a passing team, yet they have no WR's. The Cutler trade could honestly have set their franchise back for a long time if he doesn't get really good before the end of this season. They need to cut back on the trades, and start rebuilding some depth on defense, or get a stud offensive lineman very soon.

    100% agree with you.

He doesn`t have a clue, just look at his face during games. Yes, I would take Dave any day over this clown. He at least showed emotion and passion for the game.
Showing emotion(or shouting or screaming) is not worth a 'hill of bean' as far as evaluating a coach. Tom Landry rarely showed 'fire and passion' and he's regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time. Bill Walsh is the same. The you take someone like Mike Ditka, one of the most overrated coaches of all time, who showed 'fire and passion'.

Lovie is not bad because he doesn't show emotion. He's bad because of what you first said in playing guys out of position. I'll agree with you on that. BUT please don't tell me you'd take Wanstead because he showed emotion?

The difference is Tom Landry and Bill Walsh knew what the hell they were doing and had excellent supporting cast in players and front office people. This moron Smith, has no clue whatsoever about football. I still say the Bears need a fiery, passionate coach. And no, my opinion will not change even if they beat the Cowboys. Smith is a loser..period. I hope he gets fired and never gets another job in the NFL. GM Jerry Angelo would not know talent if it spit in his face...yeah, I know he picked up Cutler. Every squirrel finds an acorn now and then. He`s an idiot on draft day, constantly trading down and giving up picks every year. They have made the Bears the laughing stock of the league.

Well, Wade Phillips is as equally bad as Lovie. So let's see who makes the most coaching blunders in Sunday's game.

Re: Week 2: Bears @ Cowboys

I am not sure why so many people feel that Dallas is a lock here. Their offense seems to be stuttering (thanks to Garrett's play-calling) and Chicago put up some rather big Offensive numbers last week (yardage-wise, anyhow).

Dallas wins if they stick to their strength, which is running to set up the pass. Garrett seems to think otherwise, but then again, his offense has underperformed under his leadership for 2 straight years.

Chicago wins if Garrett calls the same game he has been calling for so long.

In other words, I don't see it as an upset if Chicago wins. Not at all.

I think both offenses are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. The Culter-Martz thing, won't work at all (it was the Lions) and as you said Garrett's play-calling ir horrid. This is where I like Dallas' D to step up. Not real high on Chicago's D.

Lovie > Wade. Wade needs to go back to be a D-Coordinator.
