Vick is the best deep ball passer in the league? Based on what?

Not saying he isn't but not saying he is but just curious what makes him that?

Based on watching him play. lol. He's up there, not sure I'd say he's the best though. That deep ball to Jackson in the Colts game where he was backed up at his own endzone was a thing of beauty.

When Vick was signed by the Eagles the first thing the coaching staff talked about was how he had the best deep ball they had ever seen. This was from day 1.

Re: Rivers or Vick: Who is Playing at a Higher Level?

Whatever Vick's flaws are/were as a quarterback -- accuracy or anything else -- that deep ball was never one of them. He could always put that thing on the money. The longer the throw, the more pinpoint he could place it. Intermediate throws, he had his moments when the ball would get away, but down the field, there weren't many times he didn't put it right in the receiver's hands.

Not going to say he's better or worse than Rivers, but he is one of the best deep ball throwers I have ever seen.

IMO though Rivers is the better if not the best deep ball passer in league.
I think Rodgers is in that group too.

The guy has one of the prettiest deep balls in the game right now. He doesnt miss them much at all.

I will say that vicks 10-20 yard passing is not as good as Rivers, but that deep ball is one of the tightest spirals I have ever seen.

Honest question: has anyone ever seen Vick throw a wobbly pass?

Useless award, but Vick gets my #1 fun guy to watch during a blow out award which means about as much as winning in Madden.

Arm strength and getting rpm's on the ball have never been a problem for Vick.

Vick has a great deep throw, but to say he has the best in the game right now and he's only played in like what 6 games is pretty questionable.

But the problem with the highlights you showed is one thing...Desean Jackson. I think every QB in the NFL would love to throw it deep to this guy.

Having a pretty deep ball and being effective at throwing it deep aren't necessarily one and the same. No one will deny that Vick looks good throwing/running...his consistency, however, has always been an issue.

                          This.

Michael Vick has been money on the deep pass throws throughout this year. If there's something to knock on Vick, it would be some of his intermediary throws he made in the second half of the giants game when he felt rattled, but even then, most of his throws has been thrown at the perfect spot for his receivers to catch it.

And this throw is so nice because Vick puts the ball where Maclin could only catch it.

I would say if you put the full body of work with Vick, then yes (this includes him as a Falcon) then yes he has been sporadic no question.

If we look at this season alone, he has been anything but inaccurate. But it is just this season. Maybe its me just happy to see him back, but this is pretty nice.

Speaking of 9.0 ypa by Rivers(which is nuts considering how much he throws), Vick has a respectable 8.4 ypa. The thing that really makes things interesting with Vick, which is funny since they ragged him for it earlier in his caree,r is you have to make him beat you with his legs otherwise he will pick you apart. Where as back in ATL you stop his legs and his passing was ineffective.

My point being, this year teams fear his arm and his legs. Teams will have to pick their poison and hope for the best.

I will be the first to admit that Vick probably couldnt do this for any team unless it was the Eagles. I get a laugh in Charlotte everytime I hear a panther fan go "we should have signed Vick". He would have been under an almost as horrible an OC as Greg Knapp and been running for his life.

Vick is honestly on the best team possible for his ability and if he continues to grow under this regime it will be a site to behold.

Rodgers can toss it down field with the best of them as well but, if you look at the numbers he's been thrown the ball and then his 20+ and 40+. His 20+ is shattering compared to most QB's, second would be Orton(yeah I said it) when it comes to throwing the deep ball/intermediate this season, he would also be a MVP candidate if not for his team being 2-8 or whatever.

Statistically he's right on Rivers tail but, after Monday night I'm not sure how much that set him back yards wise anyways. Broncos fans wanna chime in?

On another note the Chargers have some what of a run game(inconsistent) and I know the Eagles haven't exactly been a running team but, I've seen what Rivers has done with 31st ranked rushing attack last season. No matter what he produces and he's already been sacked 23 times this season and I think if I'm not mistaken he was only sacked 25 times all of last season.

We currently have 4 QB's that are on pace for over 4750 yards(Rivers, Manning, Orton, and Brees). That's crazy. And obviously Rivers is on pace for over 5,000. What's even more ridiculous about Rivers' season so far, he's averaging only 35 attempts a game which isn't even top 10(attempts per game) in the league.

Hard to argue against Rivers in this debate. Just from a pure numbers standpoint, he's been incredible and he's doing this with guys I've never even heard of. Not taking anything away from Vick, he's been great, but he's doing it with the likes of DeSean Jackson, Maclin, McCoy, etc. Toss in the fact that Vick has only played like 5 full games and I think you have to hand it to Rivers.
