        Sometime yes, other times no...

Kubes is a teriffic OC. If Denver were to hire him in that capacity I could see him making Tebow a solid NFL QB.

But as a HC? He's been here 5 years, and he still struggles with basic game day decisions (challanges, clock management, etc.).

Bottom line: 36 wins, 43 losses in 5 seasons. If Denver wants that for their next HC, fine. Just don't say you weren't warned.

It's amazing how Kubiak can still get the benefit of the doubt from people.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Every coach has issues though, there will always be something to point to and say its an issue. Every coach has it and some have won a SB at some point despite it- not saying Kubiak will or wont, no one coach is perfect.

Regardless of who gets hired, its always a gamble. Doesn't matter if they have 5 rings or none, you don't know how it will play out.

Re: what should your team do?

              What the Packers should do:

              1. Get rid of Ted Thompson. He's had some good picks recently, but his busts bring down his good picks a ton. Our O-Line sucks because he won't give up on Colledge, and other than Bulaga, hasn't really attempted to draft replacements for Clifton and Tauscher. Also, he won't give up on Scott Wells for some reason. He also can't really draft running backs and secondary help all that well.

              2. Get rid of Mike McCarthy. Ok, he's not a bad coach, but I don't like him. He can't win close games at all. His playcalling is rather predictable, and completely boneheaded at times, but there are other times where he seems brilliant. While I'd take McCarthy over most coaches on the market, if the Packers wanted to take a shot at getting Cowher, I wouldn't be opposed.

              3. Revamp our O-Line. Get rid of Colledge ASAP. He is just terrible. He's not strong, and not fast, and just refuses to block guys sometimes. Wells is next, he's too small to play center. If he lost a bit of weight, he might be a decent blocking tight end, but that's a stretch. I'd rather just replace him outright. Then get a replacement to Clifton, whether that mean moving Bulaga over to LT, or drafting another guy. If you move Bulaga, they need to get a replacement for Tauscher.

              4. Get another running back. Grant's good, but another decent threat at running back wouldn't hurt. Kuhn has been solid, but I don't want to rely too much on a fullback to be my backup runner. Jackson... well, he just sucks. He's beyond terrible. The only time he's even reasonably useful is as a screen/3rd down back. And Dimitri Nance has been decent, but who's to say that's not because he's fresher than the defenses he's facing?

              5. Draft more secondary help. Woodson isn't getting any younger, and it's really showing this year. Tramon Williams has been playing lights out, apart from the occasional mistake here and there. And who's to forget Sam Shields, who has really shown a great improvement since the beginning of the season. Collins has been playing well, and our revolving door at the other safety spot has played well. However, depth in the secondary is a concern.

              6. Get a good kick returner. The revolving door of Williams, Nelson, Shields, and others just doesn't work. Williams runs 50 yards to get to the 20, Nelson is too slow to break the big returns, and Shields doesn't seem to have the vision to find the hole to break the big return. A proper kick returner could really help, as could decent blocking...

              7. Get some decent tight ends. After Finley, we have Lee, Crabtree, and Quarless. Lee can catch, but isn't fast at all. Crabtree and Quarless have just been unimpressive. I like Lee, but we need a decent backup.

Ordered from most important (1.) to least important (7.)

For what it's worth, Mark Berman is reporting that McNair is leaning towards bringing Kubiak back but won't make an official announcement until next week. Berman is usually spot on with his reports.

Also caught the end of Pallilo's show this evening and he was talking like Wade Phillips as D-Coordinator is close to a done deal.

49ers: Get a GM,get a coach, keep talking to people that know what they're doing, hold a seance with the ghost of Bill Walsh, get a QB,hire Joe Montana or Steve Young to teach said QB,get a DB,get another DB and get a new defensive scheme. I'll take Gruden,Cohwer or Harbaugh.

Pats and Eagles aren't applicable to this topic as their coaches will still have a job.

                    Ravens:

                    1) Finish games.

                    2) Win close games.

                    3) Draft offensive linemen and wide receivers.

                    4) Sweep division next season.

Apparently John McClain has been blogging more or less the same thing.

                      *sigh*

Is it possible that Bob McNair really is this out of touch with the mood of his fanbase? Or does he just not give a damn what anyone else thinks?

either he'll be a linebacker or seek a trade for him

Mario has the skill set and athleticism to be a good pass rushing 3-4 OLB, but he's been too good as a 4-3 DE imo. That would be a nice little 3-4 linebacking core tho, Mario Cushing Ryans and whoever

Good question. Imo Mario is too big (6'6" 295) to play OLB, plus he has never been asked to play with his back to the QB. He would have to learn cover skills pretty much from scratch.

Most 3-4 teams go to a 4 man front on 3rd downs so MW would be fine there, but imo on 1st and 2nd downs he would have to play DE (which would mean fewer oppotunities for sacks).
