Lived in Pittsburgh my whole life and have to support my home town teams through the good and the bad (and with the Pirates it's been mostly bad). Even during most of the 90's when Pitt football was pretty much an afterthought, I always loved them even when everyone else seemed to be rooting for Penn St. Yes, I am, always have been, and always will be fiercely loyal to my home town teams.

My father migrated from Jamaica and he was a fan of Bob Hayes. So, my father became a fan of the Cowboys because of Bullet Bob Hayes. My father and I started watching Cowboys games together just in time for Tony D rookie season. A proud fan since 1977.Comment

Re: Why do you support your team?
I think because everyone in my family is a gigantic Packers fan. I don't really remember. I've been a fan almost literally all my life. I remember Don Majkowski being my favorite player at one point and I was at most 3 the last time he was starting for the Packers.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Why do you support your team?
Yeah, grew up in a large family full of Packer fans. I was a child of the 80's when Lynn Dickey was qb, James Lofton and John Jefferson were the wrs. Bart Starr was a head coach. They were in the middle of an 18 year playoff drought, and the idea of them winning another Superbowl seemed impossible but I never could consider not rooting for them.Comment

Re: Why do you support your team?
I also root for the city of Philadelphia. I root for anything Philadelphia.
An interesting topic, IMO, would be; if your team left town, and a new team came in, would you root for the old one of the new one?

Re: Why do you support your team?
I'm a Panthers fan because I was born and raised in Charlotte. I was 9 when Charlotte got the Panthers but wasn't able to go to my first game until I was 16 (stupid PSLs). I'm more of a baseball fan because that's what I've played my whole life, but after the Panthers came to town I became a huge football fan.

As for this question, while this isn't football I think it's still relevant. I can't bring myself to root for the Bobcats. I want to, I really do, but I can't get into them. I was a pretty big Hornets fan growing up when they had Muggsy, Dale Curry, LJ, Zo, Glen Rice, among others, and when they left town they took my rooting interest in the NBA with them. I thought I would be able to root for the Bobcats when it was announced that Charlotte was getting another NBA team, but it hasn't turned out so. I would imagine it would be equally difficult to root for a new NFL team in the Panthers were to leave town for some reason.
Yea, that is how I think I would react, too. That is a perfect example btw.Eagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

Re: Why do you support your team?
I've been a Packers fan since I can remember. Parents, family, friends were all Packers fans, and being from Wisconsin, it just felt right to cheer for them.
Although, I did go through a brief 3 month stint as a Vikings fan just because it angered my dad... I was also 3 at the time so it didn't last long...Comment

Re: Why do you support your team?
I got into sports relatively late (around 10 years old) mainly because my father wasn't the biggest sports fan but I discovered the Bills in 1989 and that's when they were starting to get really good. I was fortunate to find interest in sports when all the local teams were all very good teams. Even through the down years i've been a Bills fan. I think the adversity of being a fan of a team that would always get to the Dance but end up losing appealed to me in that as long as it doesn't kill you it only makes you stronger.
I clearly remember after the 4th SB loss I was listening to the sports radio station and people were calling in laughing at the team and using the acronym "Boy I Love Losing Super bowls". It really got to me and I actually cried myself to sleep but I was always optimistic and always looking forward to next year. Even after Jimbo and the boys eventually left/retired I stuck by the team through thick and thin from incompetent coaching to bad personnel decisions all in the hopes that the Glory Days would return. I can't see a day where I WOULDN'T cheer for the Bills.

Re: Why do you support your team?
After watching my first NFL game (The Superbowl the Packers won in the 90's). I rented a copy of Madden, I decided to do a season and wanted a team that resembled New Zealands colours. I stumbled upon The Black and Gold of the Saints, which was close to the Black & Silver NZ teams use............Was not till halfway through the season, that I found the Raiders. LOL glad I stuck with Saints.
Only ever seen them play once, and that was last years Superbowl. The rest have just been highlights off the web.New Zealand Warriors - All Blacks - Auckland Blues - New Orleans Saints - Orlando Magic - Queensland League
