Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
... i figure that was easy to understand.
1- one of the things that make this country great is that pretty much everyone gets second chances after they have failed or make mistakes.
2- Anyone that denies that second chances dont exist for everyone or feels that a certain person who is not a child molester or mass murderer shouldnt get a second chance is full of crap.
3- You dont have to like that, but you cant deny it all the same.
Hopefully that clears things up for you bk...Comment

Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
I don't care one way or another who Vick signs with (the next time I purchase something because someone endorses it will be the first). It's great that he's getting back to where he was, but if people choose not to be excited about his success that is their prerogative and doesn't make them a wrong. Pretty funny to read some of the posts in this thread honestly."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
Some people would classify Vick as one of these. Not saying I do, but that some with extremist views do. I think the appropriate "old American theory" to throw out here is that the loud extremes always get heard and covered the most. It makes having an opinion somewhere in the middle very frustrating most of the time.Comment

Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
Whether that's true or not is irrelevant. Vick has gotten one of the greatest second chances ever. That does not mean people have to like him or wish him well.
Still doesn't make sense or have a point.
So because America is the land of alleged second chances, we're all supposed to like him and be glad he got a second chance? I disgaree.
Personally I despise the man. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. That being said, do I care he got a deal with Nike and an extension with the Eagles? Not really, doesn't affect me at all. That's the great thing about America, the freedom to have such an opinion.

I
Im pretty sure #3 said YOU DONT HAVE TO LIKE IT, which you just said so we are in agreement.
Im pretty sure #3 said YOU CANT DENY IT (as in you cant deny that he gets a second chance like everyone else as I said on #1)
Im pretty sure we agreed on #1 which was that in America we get second chances...
Im pretty sure there is nothing i can do to explain that better.
I get it BK you dont like Vick and you dont have to wish him well pretty much exactly what i said like 4 posts ago when you responded with "what" as if you were confused by your own thoughts.
i was just pointing out the fact that regardless of your feelings, the man gets a second chance like pretty much everyone else in this country, and I am happy for him and hope he keeps his act together. Im not going to engage you any further on this BK we agreed, we disagreed lets agree to do both in this case.

If it makes it better lets throw out the "The old American Theory" of second chances and bring it to the original American Theory of capitalism.
The man can make money for Nike/Philadelphia and being that everyone has the right to earn a living based on their opportunities and skills there is nothing more to say.
My only concern in this issue is that A lot of these dissenting opinions about Vick are soley based on emotianlism, Jealousy, bitterness, anger, and frustration. But few are willing to acknowledge that.Last edited by feeq14; 07-05-2011, 01:32 PM.Comment

facepalm, ok BK one more time-
You dont have to like that Micheal Vick gets a second chance, but you cant deny the fact that he deserves a second chance. You pretty much agreed with that point. If you dont get that please at least explain how it doesnt make sense im done trying to explain why it does.Comment

Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
In my opinion everyone gets a second chance especially when they lost so much. Others have different lines that decide whether or not you get one. Mine stops at murder and child abuse, and even for those guys i would begrudge them trying to live their lives after paying their debt to society as long as they arent profiting off of what they did.
If Vick wrote a dog fighting book or was trying to sell dogfight videos on youtube i would be disgusted. Much like the whole OJ "if I did it" fiasco. But him going back to doing what he does, and becoming successful at it. I personally cant be mad at that and think others that are mad are a bit off in their perception.Comment

Re: Michael Vick Re-Signs With Nike
Pretty much all the people I know that hunt eat what they kill. Totally different than offing dogs for sport. And they share with non-hunters as well. My freezer has a bunch of delicious venison in it that I didn't kill myself.
As for the original topic? I don't care. Of course Nike is going to sign a guy who is playing well and everyone is talking about. It's a no-brainer business decision.

Whether he deserves a second chance is certainly debatable. There's no constitutional right to 2nd chances. It's not one of your inalienable rights. Whether he deserves a 2nd chance or not is strictly a matter of opinion. The fact of the matter is he got one.. Does that bother me? Not particularly. But I see why people don't think he deserved one. And that's well within their rights to believe that. He's a convicted felon who's getting a second chance strictly because he's a good football player. Simple as that.
I understand why certain people blindly defend him, I get it. I feel sorry for them, but that's s discussion for another forum.Comment
