Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Just saw a video from yesterday's Giants/49ers game where a fight broke out before the game between rival fans.
I've yet to experience it directly or around me, but have noticed the media picking up on it lately. Has anyone here experienced fan violence while attending an NFL game?Comment

All my games in the NFC North Stadiums (Humptydome, Lambeau, Soldier, Silverdome and Ford Field) have always been a blast. Most of the other stadiums I went to were nice as well, the only place I had a problem was in DC in 2010 when the Pack played there. It was a one off drunk idiot though, there were more Packers fans than Skins fans anyways.
In the 50-60 games I've attended I've never seen any issues really. The rare chance it does happen though the press is all over it.

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
I've only been to one NFL game (Broncos/Chargers in SD) and I don't remember anything getting out of hand.
Seen multiple instances of unruly/dangerous behavior at Dodger Stadium, though. Staples too, a couple times. Nothing terribly major there.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Not that there is MUCH more than is being reported by you guys, but most "issues" are started and/or ended in the bathrooms so you wouldn't see them unless you're looking or dumb enough to wait until the obvious times to take a leak.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
It seems hilarious that James Harrison, regardless of his history, can get fined so much more than that for relatively docile hits compared to the obviously intentional and ridiculously illegal hit that was put on Cushing. Only $10,000 is ****ing insanity.NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Of all the problems people have with the NFL and not understanding the fine structures and stuff (which is mostly just uneducated fans only reading headlines rather than stories), things really go off the rails if they start fining based on severity of injury.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
I didn't think the hit was illegal (even though it really should be). Nobody's been talking about it bc who could possibly be mad that he got fined for that crap, but I'm not sure how they can fine for a hit that's not against the rules.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
This is what the NHL does and it's completely asinine. The same type of hit can result in many different outcomes. The point should be prevention, not reaction.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
The league took action on Thursday, fining New York Jets offensive lineman Matt Slauson $10,000 for an illegal peel-back block on Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing that ended his season.
"According to Rule 12, Section 2, Article 4, a player who is aligned inside the tackle box when the ball is snapped who moves outside the tackle box cannot make contact on the side or below the waist of an opponent if he is moving toward his own end line."
The right edge of the tackle box was about a yard inside the right hash; Slauson hit Cushing from behind and below the waist while he (Slauson) was moving towards his own goal line a good 2-3 yards outside the tackle box.

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Not pissed because Cushing has a torn ACL. I'm pissed because it was blatantly dirty. Dude got beat then doubled back and went straight AT Cushing's knee.
I also disagree that punishments should be based on severity. Too much inconsistency with that. Too much inconsistency either way, anyway.Comment
