Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Actually believe or not, despite Harvin's impressive stats when AD when down, he still wasn't the focal point of the offense.
In week 13, Devin Aromashodu was in on 77 snaps vs Harvin's 52 snaps and in week 14, Aromashodu played in 80 snaps, Greg Camarillo was in on 59 snaps, and Harvin had 57 snaps.
I'm not sure how Percy Harvin is being used this year, but you could say he was being underutilized in seasons past.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
So i hear that there is a big fiasco over the Redskin's team name; as it may be a derogatory and/or politically incorrect term.
I read that some DC based media outlets have stopped using the 'Redskins' name and substituted 'Pigskins' instead.
How do you guys feel about this? I know its tradition for the franchise but I can understand if a culture in this country is upset and are against it. I dont think they change it anytime soon but i'd like to start up the Bandwagon for The Washington Bobs.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Snap count doesnt paint the whole picture. Not by a long shot.
Edit: This is about the Percy snap count post...Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Good point. Those issues he had with migraines, a rib injury, an odd illness, and a torn ligament in his finger had caused him to miss valuable reps in practice which would likely lower his snap opportunities.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Push: Speed, Return Ability, End Around Impact, Open Field Impact
Harvin Edge: Route Running, Receiving Impact, Power Running (Harvin can line up at H-back in the I and be effective), Blocking
Harvin outperforms Cobb even though the defense has to key on him on every play he's on the field. Cobb makes cameos in the passing game as 2 or 3 other than him have to be accounted for. The QB throwing the ball to each player isn't a contest.
Give me Harvin and it isn't close. He's a far more complete football player than Cobb could ever dream of being.
PS - It makes me sick to be defending Vikings players against Packers players. What are you doing to me Pack?!
You bring up blocking and how Harvin lines up in the backfield(which McCarthy has started to do with Cobb, although not as frequent as the Vikings do with Harvin)as the H-Back but it's not like he's playing the lead blocker or clearing a path for AP(which depending on the team, is how they use the H-Back for the most part)so I can't really judge either of their blocking skills or give one an advantage over the other. I'll give him the edge in Power Running because I've seen him do that at both the College and Pro levels.
I'm not saying that Cobb outperforms Harvin at all. Would be ridiculous of me to even say that considering Harvin is on the field probably 90-95% of the time while Cobb is barely on the field 50% of the time. I just disagree with the notion that the gap between the two is that wide or that Cobb will never be as good as Harvin is. At least right now.
I'll say this though: If you remove Harvin from the Vikings WR core, that will HURT their Offense as teams will just put 9 in the box for AP as opposed to 6-7 in the box . And if you remove Cobb from KR/PR, that will HURT their Special Teams.
In short, Harvin is more important to the Vikings in what they do than Cobb is important to the Pack in what they do.#RespectTheCultureComment

I'm sorry, I used the wrong term there. I meant he sometimes lines up as the primary running back behind a fullback instead of Gerhart as a different look.Comment

However the Redskins are in a different situation that's their actual name that can be considered incorrect not just a mascot, etc.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
The fact someone is really bitching about that and take it as disrespect is absolutely ridiculous.
Pretty sure the Native Americans were the ones to actually come up with that term. Smfh.

Now the Cleveland Indians being yelled at for having that as their name is completely different but at least they went and erased the goofy Indian on their hat. I think there's room for a bit of give and take and the Indians situation is a perfect example. I don't like that many college programs have had to change their identities because of these kind of protests etc etc.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Wasn't supposed to be an analogy. Was evaluating the oversensitivity people have now a days.
Thank you for your contribution. Smfh.Last edited by JODYE; 10-22-2012, 04:32 PM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
While I feel most talk about the Native American team names etc etc are PC talking points I feel a bit differently about the Redskins name. The team was owned by a guy who was a certified racist and hence the name from the very beginning had racist overtones to it. That has lessened a lot over the years but I can understand the POV of some people on that name.

Have never met anyone in my life that have been racist towards Native Americans. My grandfather is 1/4th Native American and I've never heard him once have any issue with the Redskins name.
It's like ok, it's been around 70 years. Think it's time to let it go.Last edited by JODYE; 10-22-2012, 04:49 PM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Are you sure about this now or are you forgetting about 2009, when at that time Sidney Rice was just as good as any of those WRs, if not better than that group.
Sure he's never had a young MVP QB in his prime, but it is a bit dishonest to say he's never played with a WR as good as ours were in his career.

This statement couldn't be more ignorant. And honestly, discussion of this should stop right here as I'd have to ban myself bc it gets in to things against the TOS.Comment

The former might have been the case, but I can assume that we are far removed from that racial prejudice that occurred in like the 30s lol
