I just hate this. I cant imagine after 9/11 the league saying the Giants can't wear NYPD/FDNY decals. I understand the issue, but the tribute isn't about the issue, it's about the actual event.

Re: NFL Off Topic
The NFL is private and can choose what they want to honor and not honor. As a police officer I don't care and respect the right for private business to do as they wish.
I do appreciate the effort by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys organization. They probably knew the idea would get struck down by the NFL but went ahead with it anyways just as a show of good faith for the slain officers families.
When I head to Dallas this September for a police baseball tournament I might purchase a Dallas Cowboys hat in support of this gesture.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: NFL Off Topic
I don't think the comparison is valid at all, but I do disagree with the NFL here. I think it would have been a good thing to allow Dallas to do this. JMOComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I won't belabor the comparison because its too difficult to explain with my phone. I won't get into the issue because there's no point and nothing can be said anyway.
I'll just leave it at this is more NFL stuff. I understand they don't want to appear to be taking a side either way, they just go where the money is. It's not surprising. It's probably for the best, sports stay away from all that stuff. Just wear pink everything in October and call it a day. Their cause or no cause.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: NFL Off Topic
They're at least being consistent. Regardless of the cause, the NFL doesn't allow these types of tributes on the uniform. It's probably for the best that they have a strict policy.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I thought so too but it seems the Seahawks wore an MP Strong decal after a high school in their area had a shooting. The NFL doesn't want to be caught on a side of the issue I guess. But then why didn't they let Deangelo Williams wear his pink cleats or Brandon Marshall wear his green cleats?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

They aren't consistent and they don't have to be. It's a business and they make their decisions as such.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: NFL Off Topic
You allow this and then where do you stop at? Are you going to allow teams to honor those that were killed by police? Or Rape/Sexual Assault Victims?
Remember, this is the same league that made all this noise and was fining players for wanting to honor victims of domestic violence, after they made all that noise trying to pretend that they cared about it in the first place.#RespectTheCultureComment

Atlanta and Miami fans, what has Miko Grimes done to feel that she is relevant?

Re: NFL Off Topic
Exactly. It's not a slap in the face of DPD or the Cowboys. Simply a rules thing. Of course, the NFL wavers on a whim it seems at times, so it makes their stance here a little shaky. I think they erred on the side of caution here, and reasonable minds will prevail in realizing that they aren't taking either side on this complex matter that's so much bigger then a decal on a helmet.
The whole subject is so touchy. I'm glad to see that everyone here has been level headed, or at least appear to be. I know I've written 5 different posts and cleared them because the words just weren't right.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
