While I will NEVER be a fan of the Patriots ever (unless Chad Kelly ends up there somehow than i'll be FORCED to follow them "sigh") as a ND fan I always like to see how alumni are doing in the NFL. I enjoyed watching Floyd play there. If he could just get his off the field issues squared away he could have a productive career.

I was kinda hoping the Bills would take a flier on him.

Floyd has always struck me as a guy who has the tools but can't use them to their fullest extent for one reason or another.

This trial with NE could be big for him. We've only seen him in Arizona, so change of scenery could be the ticket.

I'm not personally expecting him to suddenly get it, but I get why a team would give him a try. His price tag has got to be pretty low with his lack of production this season plus the recent off field issues. Could get quite the bang for your buck.

We could actually see Floyd play as early as Sunday in Denver. He traveled with the team and Charlie Weis said he is familiar with most of the verbiage used by the Patriots on offense. Patriots only carry 4 WR's counting him so if someone goes down he will play.

It is crazy to me that a guy can be found passed out drunk behind the wheel at an intersection, then be scooped up by another team days later. Just a bad look in my opinion. Guy has barely had time to reflect on what he did or reassess what the hell he is doing out here. But if he helps us win I am sure I will happily look the other way.

How's Barkaveous Mingo doing in NE? Wasn't he suppose to become an all pro by merely putting on a NE jersey?

Mainly a special teamer, has shown flashes of a good player at times. Decent depth guy who has done enough to justify the trade.

Blame the media for that. Every player suddenly becoming good by merely putting a Pats jersey on and "The Patriots Way" are both media driven narratives.

While I get what you guys are saying; Floyd ain't another team's trash. He's actually good. If he is in NE what he was in Arizona (minus injuries/off the field issues) then that's still a pretty good WR. There's no on the field magic that needs to happen for Floyd to be a good get.

You same thing about Chad Johnson when he got traded to NE and look how that turned out for him while he was there.

I agree with what you're saying...I'm just not holding my breath on him panning out there.

Floyd is 27 though, wasn't Johnson like 33-34?

                    I think that's a pretty substantial difference.

On the DWI...it is crazy to me there is no immediate suspension but I'm not sure the NFL policy. There is a thing called due process as well.

Socially I think it's more acceptable to be caught asleep at the wheel drunk over DV stuff and you don't see much of a backlash against the player.

Stallworth served 30 days for killing a pedestrian. With that said each case is different and there are agitating/mitigating factors that determine what the punishment should be.

I think the reason DUIs are more socially acceptable is because basically anyone who drinks alcohol has been in a situation where they could have gotten a DUI. It's easy to distance yourself from DV because a vast majority of men act like well-adjusted humans towards women (and vice versa). When someone gets popped for a DUI it makes a whole lot of people reflect on themselves (myself included), and they keep their mouth shut.

Also, alcohol is seen as an accepted drug. Not nearly as much stigma attached to it as other drugs.

I get all that. I just think it's a bad look to sign a player less then a week removed from being found asleep at an intersection due to alcohol consumption.

He was 33 when he got traded and was still putting up numbers in his 30s. 1000 yds at 31 and 800 at 32 while playing 2 less games than he did the year before.

Remember, his game was based on his excellent feetwork(one of the best at his position ever)and his route running. And if you can do those 2 well, along with catching the ball, age doesn't play as much as factor.

Floyd had over 100 catches for a 1000yds in his 2nd year and then regressed each year for some reason. I know Arizona started featuring guys like John Brown more so maybe that played a factor in it.

I don't think anybody is going to argue with you. I would say that we can't fully pinpoint falling asleep due to alcohol. We don't know what his BAC was...other than it was above the legal limit.

Yea the emergence of Brown really cut into Floyd's production...and Fitz just won't give up that top slot. Plus David Johnson is like a damn #2 WR.

I would really think Chad's tools would excel in NE...but maybe they want more quick/shift over precise.

No idea how Floyd fits in but if Lafell can do it I would put my money on Floyd to bring it around.

Well, if you don't care about how bad both teams suck, you can watch the Browns-Bills game for as low as $6.95 (via Stubhub) or $10 (via Ticketcity).
