There is zero percent chance that Carr wins the award now.

I don't think Brady should win, but let's all be honest: he is the best QB in the NFL, having the best year.

Matt Ryan on the other hand, should win it IMO. Probably having the 2nd best season of any of the QBs right now. His team is 10-5.

If they go 11-5, I think he wins. If they go 10-6, I think Brady probably wins.

Why not? It's a regular season award and he played every game except one as he helped to put the Raiders back on the map.

Chad needs to keep being Chad. One of the few guys that I actually miss after he retired.

There is the argument that he will not win because it will not help the league in hyping the postseason.

What kinda POS reasoning is that?!

Seriously, anyone who thinks this way is out of their mind.

When was the last time someone who wasn't playing in the playoffs won the award?

I don't think it is a stretch to say that had the Saints finished better than 7-9 last year Brees would have been an MVP candidate. But he didn't receive a single vote did he? And go back a year further, I'm pretty sure the Texans missing the playoffs hurt Watts chances.

So... did you make it what you said then since you're defending it rather than citing it?

It's not an NFL award... it's the AP. Teams not making the playoffs typically don't also have the MVP winner because the other teams aren't as good.

                  As to your question: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comment...award_has_the/

Unitas in 67 and OJ in 73 weren't on playoff teams.

                  MVP voters: https://mvpvoting.wordpress.com/ap-voters/

MVP isn't even announced until just before the Super Bowl. How is that going to be used to hype the playoffs? lol.

And the voters are made up of journalists whose job it is to cover the league. I'm fairly confident that projecting playoff success is a factor in their deliberations.

The other poster is the one that said Carr now has zero chance of winning the award. The reason I provided is the only one I could think of that explains why Carr would have zero chance. Not saying I agree with it or that it is the case, only that it is a possible reason.

Rex Ryan is basically Jeff Fisher - except he doesn't play nice so he gets fired when he should.

Going to miss Rex's press conferences during Patriots week. Only thing that could possibly fill that void would Buffalo hiring Jeff Fish.

Wouldn't put it passed them to do that either.
