Good article/read from The Ringer talking about the legacies of Steve Smith, Calvin and Andre Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald. AKA the Post-Randy Moss Wide Receiver Generation:

Some of the lines in there are just fantastic. The one about Fitzgerald's season with Kolb and Skelton as his QB was gold.

Edit: Denver is giving away a lot of coaches. If he isn't going to be in Denver, of all the coaches leaving I would love to see Studesville get the OC job for the Jets. More than deserving.
Its that old debate about what you are willing to give up for a SB championship.
We knew about 4 years ago that Denver was going all in and sacrificing the long run for a short term shot at the SB. The thing is we were expecting it to affect player retention but not the coaches.

My takeaway on letting Wade walk -- John doesn't feel like this team will be in the hunt the next couple of seasons anyway, so rather than pay him big bucks to fight tooth and nail for a playoff spot get a young guy in there and get a jump on rebuilding.

The D definitely has some pieces in place already too.

The oline, not so much. With McVey being so young, I wonder how much influence he'll have on the draft and signing of free agents for the line. If the team falls short in those areas, he'll get blamed even if he has little to do with it. AND we'd have to think they'll want to jump on a premiere pass catcher to go with their young QB and RB, in their new home.

Rams are keeping the same GM right?

Greg Robinson has been a major bust it sounds like.

Who knows what they want to.

It's always hard to figure out what bad teams want to do.

Sean McDermott is being introduced right now in Buffalo. He seems really intense.

Not a shocker but Homefield matters:

In the six seasons from 2005 through 2010, earning a bye hardly guaranteed a spot in the championship round. In the five seasons since then, that has changed — dramatically.

Before the lockout, teams with the top two seeds were 12-12 in their first playoff appearances. In the five seasons since then, the top two seeds are 16-4.

From 2011 through 2014, the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds were 3-1 each January. Last year, it was a 4-0 clean sweep, with the Broncos, Patriots, Cardinals, and Panthers all winning at home.

It’s unclear why the trend has changed so dramatically. But it definitely has, and it will be interesting to see whether three or four of this weekend’s home teams will advance to the final four.

It's definitely going to be a culture change. This is exactly the kind of guy Buffalo needs.

Good read but what struck me is the absence of Brandon Marshall besides one line talking about how dominant one of the featured players was and how his only contemporaries in that statistical context were some older player and Marshall.

He has 6 100 reception years, 8 1000 yard seasons (6 over 1200) with his only down years being his rookie season, last year, and final year in Chicago. Did it in 4 different places with Cutler, Fitzpatrick, and... Matt Moore, maybe? Throwing him the ball.

He's a beast and somehow gets lost in these discussions about modern WR.

Probably because he did it on middling teams and wore out his welcome everywhere he went. Also, Cutler has way more arm talent than those other guys you mentioned. Marshall was happy to have him as a QB for all those years in Denver and Chicago. Getting the ball into the hands of his best receivers was never Cutler's problem.

FAA got $29m out of Kroenke so they can start building his stadium.

When the Rams and Chargers join forces to share a stadium in 2019, there will definitely be a stadium to share.

This article was also only about guys that have hinted at retirement, announced their retirement, or are already retired. In the article they mentioned Anquan Boldin, but didn't go into more detail because it was stated that he hasn't mentioned retirement.

Simmons and Michael Lombardi compared each remaining playoff teams to characters from The Wire:

                              Seattle - McNulty
                              Atlanta - Bodie Broadus

                              Houston - Frank Sobotka

                              Pittsburgh - Stringer

Only three of these characters survived...

Just watched Sean McVay's press conference. I like the guy, really rooting for him. Now if only the Rams could switch back to the old blue & white uni's, I've always liked those much better.

On the other Sean McDermott seems like the right guy for Buffalo. Be interesting to see how good that Buffalo defense can be with him at the helm.
