Re: NFL Off Topic
The guy is tough as they come but he's been banged up a lot in his career. Maybe his starting to feel the side effects of that, if he wasn't already.
Be a shame to see him go but take whatever amount of good health you have left if he does go.Last edited by RJTurneR; 01-24-2017, 02:06 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I have a strategy question. Let's say a team is down by 15pts in the fourth quarter (so obviously they needs a pair of TD's and one 2pt conversion to tie). And they get that first TD with about 5:00 left, it seems inevitably the team will kick the PAT and wait for the next TD to go for 2. Wouldn't it make sense to go for two earlier, so it you don't make it, at least know you need an additional possession and can manage the clock accordingly?Comment

Ben isn't going anywhere based on this: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...nder-contract/
He'd owe the Steelers over $18m if he retired. If he plays next year he'd make $12m and owe them $12.4m less.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Ben loves to feed the media. I'm never quite sure if he is doing it for fun, if he loves hearing himself talked about or if he is just a drama queen but he feeds the media stuff like this all the time (usually it's about injuries).
He's not going to walk away.Comment

Yep. That said, the Steelers should start looking at someone to take over the mantle once he does retire. Obviously future HOF'er Landry Jones will be next in line.Comment

NFLPA seeking to change substance abuse policy as it pertains to marijuana.
Leaders of the NFL Players Association are preparing a proposal that would amend the sport’s drug policies to take a “less punitive” approach to dealing with recreational marijuana use by players, according to the union’s executive director, DeMaurice Smith.
The proposal will be presented to union’s board of player representatives, Smith said Tuesday. If it is approved by those players, Smith said, the proposal will be made to the league. The NFL would have to agree to any changes to the drug policy, which is negotiated and jointly administered by the league and players’ union.
The proposal to modify the manner in which the league deals with recreational marijuana use would, if it is delivered, come as the NFLPA’s recently formed pain management committee separately studies the issue of marijuana use by players as a pain management tool and whether that should be permissible under the drug policies.Comment

As for the NFLPA proposal, I hope that is met positively. I know Seantrel Henderson would be elated as he has been unjustly punished by the league for taking DOCTOR PRESCRIBED marijuana for treating his Crohn's disease.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I think they'd have more leverage if they took the approach of getting the NFL to mirror the changes in city and state laws with their policies. This would mean some players still shouldn't take the chance of lighting up, but others would be fine if abiding by their state's laws. Then, as the rest of the country catches up (as it looks like the direction we're going), the NFL rules continue to adapt appropriately.Comment
