John Lynch is basically gonna be the Steve Kerr of football, I guess.

    I think it can work.

York compared his firing of Harbaugh and replacing him with Tomsula to the Warriors firing Mark Jackson and replacing him with Kerr.

Maybe this time he'll lay off making comparisons.

Well I meant Kerr jumping from the broadcast booth to becoming the GM of the Suns in one shot.

True, but Kerr actually was a GM for the Suns.

And I'm sure he learned a lot from Pop when he played at San Antonio.

One of the questions about Lynch is whom they might bring in to help him with the draft and kind of learn the job. Or does Lynch have someone in mind already?

If he's networked and knows personnel guys or coaches, that would indicate he's always been thinking of a career beyond the broadcast booth.

If they have to bring in someone he doesn't know to hand-hold him through at least the first year, then you wonder if this is something he did on a whim, which was to approach the team and Shanahan about the job, out of the blue.

Even if the latter is the case, he could still be successful if he's smart and willing to learn.

If he threw his hat into the ring figuring I'm smart, I know football and this will be like real-life fantasy football, then he and the 49ers would be in for a rude awakening.

Don't know much about him but it sounds like a solid hire from everything I've read. His time with the Chiefs produced some good teams and good draft picks.

Now it's time to see if he keeps Pagano around or not. FWIW, Pagano said he's excited about Chris coming aboard and looks forward to working with him. Not sure if that's him just sucking up trying to keep his job or if he already knows he's staying.

Can he fire Pagano now if he wanted to?

They'd be late to the party as far as a coaching search goes, their options and timing might be a bigger factor than if he can be fired.

Understand all of that. I'm just asking if he assumes absolute power as GM right away.

Could potentially land either Matt Patricia OR Josh McDaniels though.

McDaniels would become the next Mangini if he left for Indy. Belichick would utterly despise him.

Also reports are he is keeping Pagano for 2017 at least.

I really have high hopes for Patricia. I dunno what it is about him that strikes me as a potentially really good HC. He seems like a quiet guy who knows the X's and O's and could put his players in a position to succeed. Almost like Belichick when he was with the Giants. People knew how good of a coach he was but he blended into the scenery.

Here's hoping my hopes won't be dashed if Patricia is given a head coaching shot sometime in the near future.

Kelce named the Pro Bowl MVP. O good. That'll help his ego.

Well earned after that run on the fake fg, lol.

I tried watching some of the Pro Bowl. I just couldn't do it. It's just not real football.

I channel surfed it a bit.....it seems it was more competitive than it has been in a long time.
