There's no pace of play problems in football with the exception of primetime games for the obvious reasons.

Pretty much all Sunday day games complete around the three hour mark pretty much at the same time.

Well if Atlanta gets the ball and scores a TD, and then NE scores again on their next drive, do the Patriots win? If so, I would think you would have the same argument that it was unfair that NE had two possessions to Atlanta's one. And you could make the same argument if they played a 10 minute qtr and NE scored a TD, Atl answered with a TD, and then NE drove for a game winning FG as the 10 minutes expired.

I didn't like the old rule when a team could take the opening drive and win with a FG. But in the current model, the team kicking off does have a few perks provided they can keep the opponent out of the end zone:
      1. If they don't give up a score, the kicking team can win the game with a FG.
      2. If they give up a FG, they have a chance to respond with the luxury of knowing they need at least a field goal (so they can game plan with 4 downs).

Just go to the college rules.

Each team gets a possession from the 25. Make it the 35 for NFL.

Do the defenders not get paid? The new OT rules make thing easier on the defense when it used to be a team could drive to your 35 kick a 52 yard FG and game over. Atlanta makes a defensive stop in OT they have a chance to win/tie the game.

Yes, 97% of rules favor offenses but those 11 guys on defense have a job to do also.

Nope! I hate CFB OT rules. I fear we are not too far off from this becoming a reality in the NFL unfortunately.

The college rules are fair, and I'd rather watch a college game go to OT than an NFL team. If Team B shuts down Team A and keeps them from scoring, all they need is a FG. If Team A scores a TD, Team B knows what they need to do. If Team A kicks a FG, Team B has to decide to go for the win or take the sure points and continue into 2OT.

There's be no more bull**** ties after 2 teams fail to score for an entire extra quarter. Who wants to watch that?

I don't like the college rules either but if they were to switch to them I would like to see the start of the possession be nowhere near field goal range so for me the 35 is out as well.

I would like to see them start somewhere on their own side of the field, preferably the 30 but personally I would be okay with the 40 if that was the compromise.

I get why you and others are in favor of CFB OT rules. For me it comes down to keeping OT as close to traditional football as possible. Would rather the NFL not adopt the CFB way of going about it.

should go to the College OT it's the GOAT I mean push it back 10-15 yards if it's too close or whatever but they will never do it so we are probably stuck with this format forever.

I can roll with this, but I'd probably settle for the 35 on their own side. Marching 65 yards isn't a difficult task, even in today's NFL, but it's not easy either.

If there's ONE current rule that I would change, it is this one. Still would like to see both teams get a "fair" chance to score as opposed to the current setup.

Completely agree. I love CFB OT rules. And agree with moving it back, but I'd put it at the 50 yard line. Make teams get a 1st down before they can have a good chance at points.

Or just treat it like a touchback, and start at the 25.

Why can't they just throw seven minutes on the clock and play a fifth quarter?

Because when you have two ****ty offensive teams like last year (twice) you already get an anticlimactic 5th quarter.
