Re: NFL Off Topic
Recruiting: Lawson committed to Auburn in March of his junior year and the pledge stuck, but it was not easy down the stretch. Clemson and Tennessee among others were pushing late.
Stats: The former five-star finished the season with only 30 tackles but had 13.5 for loss including nine sacks. Lawson also recorded a forced fumble and 24 quarterback hurries. His sacks and quarterback hurries were team highs by far.
Stock report: Up
Farrell’s take: Lawson’s combine performance moved him up quite a bit despite lacking great length. Lawson destroyed people at our first Rival Five-Star Challenge in Atlanta and became a five-star as a result of that dominant showing. He had some injuries in college, but this past season he was healthy and led one of the best defensive lines in college football. He’s now firmly a second-rounder and someone might take him late round one.
Lawson has went from what was a probable 3rd-4th round pick to a very possible 1st round pick. Good for you War Eagle fans. :wink:NCAA- GO VOLS
NBA- GO CELTICS
MLB- GO BRAVES
NFL- GO COWBOYS
NHL- GO PREDATORS
NASCAR- Chase Elliott
MLS- LA Galaxy
RIP Pat Summitt: We will all miss you!

Re: NFL Off Topic
On the Competition Committee's agenda this week: player accountability. Taunting & excessive celebration fouls increased this past season
We're developing an educational training video for players to show clear examples of appropriate and inappropriate celebrations.
The Committee is also exploring ways — including considering immediate ejections or suspensions — to take dangerous hits out of our game.
We'll communicate this to our coaches and players with video examples of flagrant hits that may result in ejection or suspension

Re: NFL Off Topic
Some changes proposed to change the pace of the game:
Goodell outlined a number of changes that will be made to the mechanics and rules of the game: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...935-sf65086935
»*Clubs will vote on a change to centralize replay reviews. Instead of a fixed sideline monitor, we will bring a tablet to the Referee who can review the play in consultation with our officiating headquarters in New York, which has the final decision. This should improve consistency and accuracy of decisions and help speed up the process.
»*Regarding game timing, we're going to institute a play clock following the extra point when television does not take a break, and we're considering instituting a play clock after a touchdown.
»*We're also going to standardize the starting of the clock after a runner goes out-of-bounds, and standardize halftime lengths in all games, so we return to the action as quickly as possible.
Goodell also wrote that the league is working with its broadcasting partners to reduce the time and frequency of commercial breaks during games.
"We know how annoying it is when we come back from a commercial break, kick off, and then cut to a commercial again. I hate that too," Goodell said. "Our goal is to eliminate it."
In addition to potential changes to commercials, the league is proposing additional changes to broadcasts centered upon providing more "compelling" content.
Some of the proposed changes would have to be approved by NFL ownership. The changes will be reviewed by owners at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix, which starts Sunday.

Re: NFL Off Topic
I had ESPN on in the background the other day and there was something about shortening overtime to a 10-minute period. I'm not sure how serious that is though.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Fix OT? I think the current rules are about as good as you can make them.
The nature of the sport just doesn't lend itself well to overtime. Most systems I have heard have one of two flaws:
1. One team has a chance for an extra possession.
or
2. If equal possessions are guaranteed, the team that has the last possession has a distinct advantage.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I like that they're getting rid of the double commercial break thing after a TD/kickoff. It's like 4 mins of commercials between the TD and first play of next drive.
Since it's a hit topic in all sports, what are some other "Pace of play" things people think NFL needs to cut down on to improve game times without impacting game itself?Comment
