Re: NFL Off Topic
He has been on one year deals, close to retirement or has talked about retirement a bit. Who knows but just seemed like a lot of steam behind it this morning from the usual Steeler accounts.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I’m so disenchanted with this team that it won’t even bother me if the Packers win the Super Bowl. When they lost on the double doink, that was a crushing loss, that defense was so much fun to watch. When they lost to the Saints I was relieved that I don’t have to watch this bunch of bums for nine monthsComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Personally, I highly doubt Colbert leaves and he can't until AFTER the draft. He's too close to retirement to start over.
I also wanted to mention this: December 16, 1968. That is the day the Steelers fired head coach Bill Austin. It's the last time the Steelers fired a head coach. Any comparisons between the Steelers and Tomlin versus what other teams may do with their head coaches is completely irrelevant.

UPDATE:*Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Wednesday morning that the Steelers have not received a request for permission from the Lions to speak to Colbert. They cannot talk to Colbert without the Steelers’ consent, he reports. (Source: Steelers Depot)

As the day unfolds it looks like the Pouncey retirement story imho.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Maybe. Just saying, if you're J'ville, exploring college guys, why go with a goon like Meyer, with a history of issues across the board, when you may be able to land a guy that can put your franchise QB in the best possible position to succeed?

Re: NFL Off Topic
.. I don't think Debo would leave. But if he did, why not now? He gets a guy he recruited, who is the most hyped prospect since the Mannings. Demand stupid, Meyer money. Probably get some measure of personnel control. What better pro opportunity will come his way?
If it all burns up in 3 years, he can always go back to being king of someones village.
Much different for Saban. He's already spent time at the top, at multiple levels. I always believed he'd want another crack it it, ala Carroll. But it looks like that ship has sailed. You want free speech?
