For the most part, Eagles were perennial playoff contenders that fizzled off in playoffs most years. Plus that was a times when teams weren't quick to fire a coach unless the team was terrible. Heck Fisher was constantly going 8-8 or 7-9 and kept his job.

Watching the Lurie presser, You can take away that Howie Roseman isn't going anywhere. Also can take away that ultimate goal would be Wentz getting back on track with a new coach. He's doing a lot of deflecting and excuses for Roseman lol

Eagles could have easily have been 2-13-1 or 1-14-1. 3 of the 4 games we won were against backup QBs. SF was a depleted injured team. Dallas game was beyond ugly, didn't stay up to watch second half. NO, I'll take but would've loss if Brees played. If Engram didn't drop that catch, we would have loss. I don't think we had a complete "good" game.

I would’ve thought winning a SB in Philly of all places, would’ve bought him another 4-5 years. My man has one awful year and he’s gone, lol.

Hell, Tomlin’s last SB appearance was 10 years ago and Carroll’s was 6-7 years ago yet they’re still keeping their jobs.

There was a time when people were contemplating replacing Sean Payton just because they were going 7-9 and 8-8. But the good organizations don't make rash decisions after a dry spell. But our offense was beyond TERRIBLE and idea of just promoting our QB Coach/Pass game coordinator, wouldn't have sat well with fans. So I get that.

But the real problem was GM Howie Roseman. Bad draft track record. I get situations where the guy you want get drafted ahead of your pick. But he drafts like he thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. I think I heard we had only 1 pro bowler drafted in last 7 years. We're about to be 75 million over the cap with a lot of money tied into aging players. Only benefit is that he is aggressive in making trades. I like Slay, but I would have rather went for a CB who wasn't approaching 30. I watched the Lurie presser, he was pretty much gushing over Roseman.

If you lose the locker room, and by accounts he has, there's really not much else you can do.

Did he lose the locker room because of what he did last week or was it already lost before that though?

He should be gone too, but if you have the Owner pretty much in your back pocket, you can pretty much **** up as many times as you want.

Not sure. As someone who doesn't follow the team closely it was the first signs I heard, but a lot of times if it reaches public comments that means it was festering under the surface for some time.

I don't follow the Eagles regularly so I'm not the best to respond to this but I think I read that the Wentz benching didn't necessarily go over so well (not just with Wentz).

This move (solely to me) looks like Lurie choosing sides between the two more than anything.

Week 17 solidified losing the locker room. But it started around mid season. Any time when you have a starting QB who is struggling bad and you're reluctant to bench him, it rubs players the wrong way. Carson should have been benched and everyone knew it.

There was definitely a power struggle. As much Lurie can deny it, there was definitely influence from higher ups with the Week 17 debacle because he would have gotten fired day after season. They had Sudfeld for 4 years, they know what he is by now. The coach-GM relationship is vital to success. If their vision isn't aligned, it's doomed to fail. I still don't get the Hurts selection. I don't buy the whole "QB Factory " BS. They have not shown they can develop a QB. Roseman has so many misses in the draft.

It was a Wentz or Pederson situation. As much as you see people(even me at times) say just trade Wentz and take the hit, it doesn't make financial sense. If they weren't willing to take a $10 million dead money hit on Jeffery the last offseason who is beyond washed, they damn sure won't take a 30 million hit on Carson. It makes more sense to try to find someone who can fix him. Its like with the Goff, they did the extension with 2 years left on rookie deal. Should have did what Dallas did and wait and see until you get to tag situation

I feel like if he lost the team, we would’ve known about that well before last week either thru comments(“My sources are telling me...”)that Schefter or Breer or Rapaport would be reporting or thru their play on the field, which would’ve been vert obvious if they quit on Pederson.

I mean, they lost 7 of their last 8?
