Re: NFL Off Topic
Damn.......
Veteran head coach Ron Rivera, a two-time Associated Press coach of the year, has disclosed that he has cancer of the lymph nodes.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, Rivera shared the news with his team on Thursday night. It is in the early stages and “very treatable and curable.”
For the 58-year-old Rivera, it’s “business as usual.” However, a Plan B is in place, in the event he can’t coach.
Obviously, Rivera’s condition puts him at enhanced risk in the event he contracts COVID-19.
The Washington Football Team has been turning the corner under Rivera’s leadership. With strength, focus, resolve, and a strong will, Rivera surely will overcome this obstacle while also continuing to put his imprint on a Washington team that definitely will benefit from his presence and leadership.
We extend our best wishes to Coach Rivera, and we’re confident that he will prevail.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I'm surprised they are going to let him continue coaching. From a legal and insurance aspect, I wouldn't be surprised if they say he is not allowed on team property. If they can make virtual coaching work, fine, but he can't step foot on the property.
I doubt he would sue, but the insurance company won't want to pay out if he gets it. Life insurance would also be affected. The risk is too high but maybe he can sign enough legal docs so they aren't liable.

Re: NFL Off Topic
No but they do make a lot of decisions for companies because if they don't don't do what they say then you end up without coverage.
This is one of the issues with people with other conditions that they have lived with and then they die because they also got covid. If covid is the cause of death listed, they may be able to get covered where if they died of the cancer or heart issues, etc they would not have. Most companies would not pay out for any preexisting conditions that they expect you to die from within a period of time for the plan.

I imagine he and the team have some sort of understanding just in case, like I’m sure Bruce Arians and the Bucs have.
And I’m sure Snyder(for as wild and random as he is)wouldn’t have a problem doing that, if it comes down to that.#RespectTheCultureComment

No but they do make a lot of decisions for companies because if they don't don't do what they say then you end up without coverage. It will depend on the type of policy. He could have an accidental death policy which won't pay for covid or the cancer. He could have a policy that no coverage if cancer was the cause if its runs in his family. Then he could have a policy that wouldn't pay for a large scale pandemic.

Life insurance companies do pay out for deaths from pre-existing conditions. They can deny you coverage and they will charge you a higher premium because of them but, if they give you a policy and you did not lie about your health issues - they will pay.Comment
