How does Mike Mularkey keep finding HC jobs? I know this is interim and it's probably because he has experience as a HC, but he needs to go away. The NFL needs to stop dipping in to the same pool of played out coaches. There was a time when Mularkey could coordinate offenses, and that time has long since passed.

Still bitter over him quitting on Buffalo. He's only a shade better then Marrone for that. Funny they both found their way to Jacksonville...
Some people are just better suited to be Coordinators than they are HC. Whisenhunt is one(didn't really understand them hiring him in the first place)Wade Phillips is another one.

And retreads aren't going anywhere, from players to coaches to management. It's the circle of life in Sports.

Thought Whisenhunt did okay in Arizona. Then they hit cap hell and Warner retired and they could not find a replacement QB.

Then he had a good season as OC in San Diego which got him this Tennessee job.

ESPN mentioned that Tennessee has a strange setup. The owner and GM live in Houston, not Nashville. So they may be disconnected from the team somewhat.

Jim Tomsula is just a future scapegoat for the hubrical experiment that the 49ers front office is trying and failing at.

              I feel bad for him.

I think the Colts being down has really put the pressure on Houston, Jacksonville, and Tennessee. Notice all those coaches have had questions raised about them lately (even Pagano in Indy), with Whisenhunt being the first to fall.

The Colts left the door open, and they all ran in to the wall. Even now, I expect the Colts to find the door still ajar and waltz right in past a pile of Texan, Jag, and Titan jerseys.

The GM for Tennessee is probably next. I read over the offseason about his surprising run of non-impact signees and draft picks and it was shocking to know he was still employed. My guess is if Mularkey shows any sign of life, he's bought the GM another year.

Their efforts have been so disjointed there. New coach last year, new QB this year, new GM next year? All these things need to be aligned so there's one vision for the whole organization. Right now, they're patching holes up one at a time that by the time they circle back its time again to fix an old leak.

Some call Tomsula "Ratsula" because there's speculation that he spied on Harbaugh and maybe Singletary for the owner.

He has no business being a HC or even a DC which is what the 49ers demanded Adam Gase do, take Tomsula as DC as a condition for taking the 49ers HC job.

As for sunk costs, the 49ers are sold out so it makes no difference what the team does, it gets all that season ticket money.

Maybe Tennessee has to worry about selling tickets still.

The 49ers are a complete and utter joke right now. I can't believe how badly ownership has bungled things up so badly that a team that was in the SB just a couple short years ago is now burning down while Tomsula and York are playing the fiddle throughout it all.

I'm sure the ghost of Bill Walsh is crying out in pained agony at what has happened to this once proud franchise. Hell, even after the Steve Young years and they were struggling at least they were trying to make things better but now everything ownership touches is turning to crap.

As for Kaep well....He'll definitely be wearing a different uniform next year. I think we've seen his ceiling but who knows, maybe being in a different environment with coaches who want to see him succeed will help him to become better.

The front office doesn't want to lose their yes-man so fast.

As for Tennessee, let's start the Chip Kelly rumors!

Tomsula has another year, at least. York fires him after one year, he's admitting he screwed up getting rid of Harbaugh. Even though the whole world knows it, he's not about to admit to it.

I am a supporter of Tomsula. I think people need to give him a chance. He is only a rookie head coach. He can transform the 49ers the same way he made their d-line one of the tops in the league.

However, the niners should have tried harder to get Rex Ryan . Oh crap...maybe I am out of line with that one since Ryan has a bad track record with developing QBs

                              More Bay Area Nonsense™

The San Francisco 49ers have benched quarterback Colin Kaepernick, replacing him with Blaine Gabbert. The move is not surprising as the leak process began in earnest a couple weeks back. The team could have handled this better.

I have asked Jed York personally for an interview, but have been largely ignored. Given the fact he stays away from local media, I am not delusional enough to think he would pay me any mind. Nonetheless, it would not surprise me if the media leaks and articles relating to Colin Kaepernick being "on an island" is simply more of the same from the front office.

Another source stated the person who leaks the information is not Jed York, but Paraag Marathe. Apparently, Marathe was the main person responsible for the leaks regarding Jim Harbaugh last year and it seems likely he is partially responsible for the Kaepernick drama. Even if York did not leak the information himself, his office seemingly is involved in it. At the very least, York and the other execs cannot keep their feelings discreet. Or, the execs purposefully use it as a tool to gain public support of their decisions.

Over a year ago, I heard first hand someone tell Jed York the rumors surrounding Harbaugh seemed ridiculous because Harbaugh was such a great coach. York quipped that a "great" coach would have won that Super Bowl. According to Niners Nation's latest source, Jed York would openly state he believed Tomsula could win more games than Harbaugh. That had to be a major division between Harbaugh and Tomsula.

Another source indicated to me some time ago, Marathe was never quite on board with Kaepernick due to his perceived "professionalism". And, from the very beginning of Kap's career, the national media ferociously criticized his urban clothes, backwards hat, headphones and et cetera during press conferences. But, those criticisms did not really connect with the San Francisco fan base. In fact, many (including this site) defended his dress. Yet, it still bothered Marathe.

Just as the 49ers execs were willing to deal with the idiosyncrasies of Harbaugh when he won, the 49ers execs did not push Kaepernick to change so long as he won games. However, now that the team has fallen to 2-6, Kaepernick is wearing a suit and tie and it is not difficult to see the same pattern of the front office exercising its power for Kap to conform to its standards of professionalism.
For those who don't know, Paraag Marathe was the guy who tried to hand Jim Harbaugh a manual on coaching. No, seriously: http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/49er...ers-experience

Years ago, Marathe devised a game-management guide that includes such information as when to call timeouts while trailing late in a game and whether to kneel or run plays while protecting a lead. Marathe has constantly re-worked his formulas.
