This whole conversation is based on him being fun to watch and personally, I haven't seen anything he's done that's entertaining but again I"m not his target audience.
I've only watched his early YouTube videos and some of them were entertaining (one I remember is him dressing up as a news reporter and asking people on the streets of Pittsburgh about the new rookie receiver). Youtube is the only platform I pay attention to though because I'm not on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. and he's largely abandoned it (all the cool kids are putting their priority on Twitch etc).

I would guess if he rose to number 3 among NFL players on social media he must be doing something right because his on-field performance doesn't warrant that much attention.

      Re: NFL Off Topic

His social media presence is still directly linked to his status as an NFL player. Right now if he were to become irrelevant in the NFL his social media presence and earning potential would take a steep dive.

I'm inclined to believe he resigned with Pittsburgh because that is the best opportunity to produce at a #1 WR level.
If he goes to KC he is not taking touches away from Kelce and Hill. If he goes to Baltimore he is not going to cause them to change their philosophy from a run heavy team. Philly is a trainwreck but a one year deal there might have been better. Right now his social media brand is heavily dependent on him being a productive NFL player.

You're getting the responses you are because of how you originally framed it. "Pittsburgh has more social media followers, thats why he signed there." Thats laughable.

Had you framed it as "One of the reasons he resigned with Pitt is he may think it is best for his 'brand'" people would have been more receptive.

        Re: NFL Off Topic

"My gut is that he looked at the number of followers the Ravens and Chiefs have on social media compared to the Steelers and decided it wasn't worth it. It would not surprise me at all if that was a big part of his decision."

The way I framed it was with words like "my gut" and "it would not surprise me". That's a long way from how you say I framed it but ok.

I wish I could find where I heard it (likely buried in an episode of The Terrible Podcast but I'm not sure) but a big reason that Chase Claypool moved into the same building as JJSS when he arrived in Pittsburgh was so he could get advice on building his own brand.

This article is the best I could find. In it, Claypool says that it is the main way JJSS has helped him.

What I am about to write might ruffle some feathers in here, so before you read on, I would like to ask some of you to put on your Helmet of Reasonable Reactions in the hopes of producing a manageable comments section. All it takes is your own employer, your NFL team, to remind you […]

For those that don't know details like this, I wanted to mention it so you can understand why a lot of Steelers fans believe JJSS is a "brand first" guy.

Some fans despise him for it, others, like myself, have a "good for him" attitude about it. Personally, I never cared at all until the logo dancing became an issue for his teammates.

Before someone runs with "that article doesn't prove anything", I'm only mentioning it to give insight into why some fans think he puts his brand first.

Article with links to pdfs of the first 12 of the total of 13 lawsuits filed to date against Deshaun Watson.

The pdfs are, of course, NSFW.

One of the civil suits filed Monday accuses Deshaun Watson of an unwanted sex act allegedly committed earlier this month.

I'm not going to pass judgment on Watson until the legal process plays out so I'm not going to say he's guilty or innocent. I will say that I read the first 10 lawsuits (numbers 11 and 12 are broken links) and there's some very disturbing stuff in there.

If there are women who have given him a massage without incident it's good that they speak up but it doesn't mean anything. Jeffrey Dahmer didn't kill me but that doesn't mean he was innocent.

I agree about her account. Not sure she's a big help to Watson. [emoji38]

I'm no expert and won't pass judgement but looks like it was an old account that was recently taken over and scrubbed by someone new which is.....odd.

Started back in 2014 but the first tweets started in late February of this year....

I like Smith, but I rather have him in the second half of 1st round than potentially top 10. I get that he is standing on his tape, which was great. I do wish he was least doing the non-field drills. If he ran a 4.5, that would hurt his stock. I just worry about his frame. If he said he was 170 currently, then he might play in the 160s. I just worry that most CBs, he'll line up against will be 15-40lbs heavier on every snap. Plus I think if Waddle didn't get hurt, he'll be bottom half 1st round at best. But, if he could turn out to be a Marvin Harrison or prime Chad Johnson, I would make that selection. But, I'm not sure if he's at that level of route running.

For the Eagles, I wouldn't want Smith. We need a true X/WR1. I rather have Chase or Pitts. I wouldn't really want Waddle, because he would be in a similar role as Reagor. Chase seems like he could be the "man" in the room. But, would want Pitts because he seems like a matchup nightmare with right usage. Plus he would be insurance if Goddert another injury plagued season that is also a contract year.

It's funny I saw a similar comment to the Jeffery Dahmer.

I think we all lean a certain way in these cases. For me growing up. One of the biggest players cases. In which I did a very deep dive back in the day on Kobe case read every detail that was publicly released. I think about that case a lot.

And I agree. We need more evidence before anyone makes a decision. But I feel that's impossible for humans in this day in age. I feel like most have already made their mind up on the subject to a point. Or at the very least leaning one way or another.

There's nothing wrong with leaning a certain way, so long as if the evidence later points the other way you follow it instead of sticking to your first impressions

                              Good vids, thanks.

I just worry about the size, but playing in the SEC does help.

Watching that Chase vs. Smith video, even he feels Chase would be a better for Eagles. I never seen Chase a dominant Route Runner. He's that Physical WR that gets open by beating press, using his hands, using leverage, win the 50/50 catches. Thats what Eagles need. They don't have a guy that can win those contested catch situations. But, I not sure I would want to draft either top 10. If I'm drafting a WR top 10, he has to check all the boxes. I want a Julio or Calvin Johnson type WR. I rather have Kyle Pitts. He seems like a true weapon that can be used all around the perimeter.
