Ryan Leaf filled in for Rich Eisen on his podcast this week and did an awesome job. I never heard before that he was trying to not get drafted by the Colts

I'll be happy with Fields or Wilson. Could probably talk myself into Lance, but he makes me nervous. I question whether Jones is the beneficiary of all the talent around him, and the Niners didn't need to trade into the top five to get him.

Jones seems like the safest option whose the most NFL ready, but least upside. You worry about QBs who are surrounded by NFL caliber players, especially when they don't have standout physical traits. But, if he can turnout like a Matt Ryan, I can see why Shanahan would be interested. With Wilson, I just worry about LOC and one good year/riser, but he has those traits you want. From an arm talent perspective, I think he is the best pure passer in the draft. He makes those difficult throw look effortless. He has good ball placement, extend plays, has more than enough mobility to be threat. But I see Wilson, Fields, and Lance as boom or bust players. It's easy to get caught up in the comps. I think Wilson is more Mayfield than Rodgers. Fields is close to Dak, and Lance to Allen. But comps is what gets overblown at times. Draft season is one of my favorite times of years. I like to see Comps just as a way to figure out a similar playstyle. So you like see good comps for top prospects. With Wilson, you like the mobile gunslingers who have good ball placement and extend plays. But you worry about them because they tend to do too much. They don't like to take what defenses gives them and don't give up on plays which leads to sacks or turnovers.

The thing that caught my eye about Jones is that even though he was surrounded by a ton of talent, on the plays where things broke down and he was pressured he didn’t seem overwhelmed. He can slide out of the pocket and keep his eyes downfield to find an open man.

I do think he is a legit NFL QB prospect unlike the AJ M or Greg M. type of QBs. Alabama approach has changed from once it was. Saban has said that he went from the old school approach of Rushing, Defense, and winning the ST battle to outscoring teams. So now, the offense is more QB friendly.

I don't have an issue with Eagles rolling with Hurts this year. Still think it was a bad pick, but I rather see what he is with a full year. I like his leadership and desire to get better. Plus, with our super young coaching staff, I don't have an idea what their identity is, outside of previous coaching stints. So, I rather see what Hurts can be and what offense will look like first. I rather Hurts be really good or really bad. I want to be certain that you can build around him or bad enough where you know you have to upgrade and end with a high pick.

I don't think next year's class is going to be bad, it's just doesn't have a clear cut guy heading into the season. The 'good' QB drafts are the ones you know a year ahead who are the top guy(s) are. We knew Lawrence, Fields and Lance were the top guys and Mac and Wilson were the "risers". I think Fields, Lance, and Wilson would be the top guy next year if they stayed another year. You have guys like Rattler(OU), Slovis(USC), Howell(NC), Morgan(Minnesota), Nix(AU) but I wouldn't rank any of them ahead of the top 5 this year. It'll be whoever has best season or shows best traits next year. I'm just hoping for a full normal-ish season next year

The Eagles are in pretty good shape. Either Hurts will prove he’s the guy for the future and you’re set for ten years or he’ll prove he’s not and you’re looking at a top five pick. It doesn’t seem like there is much of an in between with him so you don’t need to worry about going 8-8 and being stuck in no mans land in the draft

I think the offense will be a lot better regardless. A HUGE if, but if the OLine stays healthy, that's a top 10 line which would make a big difference. Carson and the OLine weren't the only issues. Last 2 seasons, Doug's playcalling regressed. Reluctant to run the ball at times, went away from the RPO heavy offense, too many vertical routes, didn't do a good job of scheming up WRs. While the firing could be debated, I didn't want him to run it back and promote within. Since the end of Andy Reid days, Philly has done a terrible job at developing players. Yeah Roseman isn't a good drafter, but I can't say Jefferson or Metcalf would've had same success. Since 2012, outside of both sides of trenches and TE, they haven't really developed any one into a star. I just hope this staff is more focused on developing and getting the most out of players.

I'm hoping Hurts succeeds. He has the work ethic and leadership. Plus we have SO MANY needs all over, I want to use the picks next 2 years to improve the roster. We have some potential at Offense. Need a true RB2(power back), WR1, and depth at TE and OL. But we have nothing to build around on defense. Top 5 players on defense will be 30+ when season starts. I wouldn't mind focusing drafts on defense

I caught that on the radio and had no idea it was him at first. He was actually very entertaining. I guess when you are the "knock if off!!" guy you can either embrace the humor or leave society altogether.

17 game season so weird. I wonder how old school guys felt when they added 2 more games to a 14 have season. Seems like a lot. Probably going to see more load management.

Also, can someone help me understand why the Super Bowl needs to be pushed back a week? I don't think they're adding a second bye week that I've heard.

I’d imagine they would keep the season opening the weekend after Labor Day and have the pre season start a week later if they’re replacing a pre season game with a regular season game

So, 17 game regular seasons will be a thing.

                          Expanded playoff staying.

Preseason going to 2 or 3 games.

An odd number of games seems weird. I think it'll be 3 preseason games, so that in the future they could negotiate and do something like trade one preseason game for an extra bye week, so it would be 2 preseason games, 2 bye weeks.

It was an NBA joke [emoji1787]. Aka rest if their chances are already locked in.

What would make more sense would of been a play in type of situation [emoji23]... Ok I'll stop..
