Nice, how many jobs are still open and hopefully they're filled soon? Crossing my fingers that DaBoll stays in Buffalo. [emoji1692]

        Just Houston and Philly

I'll take him in Philly. But, I think he could wait a year. Both jobs are undesirable. But, his stock is as high as it can get right now.

I wonder if Watson would have change of heart if Houston brings in DaBoll? They still need to make a lot of improvements but he'd be a great hire.

          I hope it doesn't happen. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji28][emoji28]

Then again, maybe DeShaun wouldn't like the hire cause they ignored his input.......[emoji38][emoji38][emoji38]

Man, I know the owner was a dumb *** for even broaching this subject with DeShaun but this is the dumbest player/owner "beef" ever.

Houston needs to sell to the highest bidder and move on.

Even if I was Eric Bieniemy, I wouldn't want that Houston job, but it might be his only chance. He went from "he's surely going to get a spot" to now not likely. Houston was interviewing a lot of Defensive coaches in order to potentially keep Tim Kelly as OC.

Philly is undesirable since they want you to fix Wentz. It's a part of the deal. Philly is more desirable than Houston at this point. Salary Cap will only be an issue this year, and if they hit on some draft picks and young guys develop this year, you have something to work with. Daboll and Eric Bieniemy are the top choices. But, Philly is a job where you're just going to be the CEO of team. I don't want a Kafka or Brady as HC, I would take him as OC definitely if Eric B doesn't get a spot. What helped McVay and Lafleur was that they won right away as younger coaches. Philly won't win right away.

Wield that power in GM/Coaching decisions or FA decisions?

If it’s the former, then I agree but if it’s the latter, then that’s already happened in this league with certain QBs.

Almost positive he meant GM decisions.

I agree with him, it is a stupid reason to be unhappy. McNair told Watson his input was valued. Watson took that to heart and went all in on providing input, which was ignored. So now his feelings are hurt.

Vermeil was right with regards to the GM search. Coaching search may be a different matter.

Doesn't mean Houston is completely clean here though. They have been a mess and there clearly was some poor communication.

I would take Eric Bieniemy, Daboll, or Staley for Eagles. I don't think Daboll would be as interested in a job. Eric Bieniemy would have to consider either job. There's nothing more he can do to get a job(other than get play calling duties) and he's still getting passed up for jobs. I don't expect us to make a decision for a few weeks. No rush for Philly or Houston at this point.

Random but when did we reach the point where we stopped playing the old coach speculation game?

I remember a few offseasons where it seemed like any coach opening we were wondering if Bill Cowher or Tony Dungy or some other old out of work coach would take it.
I just noticed their names haven't come up once (oops) and was like whoa, when did we get over that

Over the last 4-5 years, the rage has been to go after the young wunderkind offensive minds. It started with McDaniels, then tailed off for a few years, then boomed again.

Even former HCs like Lewis, Frazier, Bowles, and other coaches have lesser chances now to get a HC job as they could have 10+ years ago. Unless it was a situation like Ron Rivera, where he was still highly regarded after he was fired, it's harder to "sell" former fired coaches nowadays. I would take a Marvin Lewis, but he might have to swallow his pride and take a DC job again and rebuild his image. Bowles and Frazier got multiple interviews this year after doing well as DC.

Thats right, after the Rams got McVay everyone wanted to recreate that

I think seeing Gruden flop after being in the MNF booth has gotten people to stop clamoring for guys that have been out of the game, along with the trend of hiring the next McVay

I don't think Gruden has flopped. He inherited a mess, and he had the team competing for a playoff spot. Sure some may have expected a full instant turn around, but that was a bit unreasonable
