Apparently Rams are looking into trading for Stafford.

Rams run their team the way I run my Madden franchise. If there is a deal to make in the offseason damn it they are going to make it, continuity be damned

It's nutty they can just turn on players they just signed long term. What's the point of a long term contract. What a dirty game.

It's crazy how Rams and Eagles are in a similar situation with a former top 2 drafted QB but are taking opposite approaches. Both teams gave Goff and Wentz their extensions too early. Both teams would get a big cap hit if those QBs. But, Rams are obvious they want to move on and Eagles want to fix their QB. But, the difference is the team situation. Rams know Goff peaked and they are in win now mode. I think they are willing to take a big cap hit because they feel they are a good QB away for contending.

Lurie is too close to Wentz. But, they aren't just a QB away. I do think the weird coaching staff setup, Offensive line issues, and lack of tough coaching played a big part in his regression. But, his issues are all mental. He always had flashes of bad ball placement/accuracy and taking bad sacks and not giving up on plays, but it was never consistent until this season. I like Hurts, but it was still a terrible pick from a team building perspective. They said how they missed out on drafting Russell Wilson and how they wanted to be a QB factory. That's not a smart decision considering that you just gave your QB a big extension the year prior and had a good season considering that he was throwing to practice squad WRs. They could have used that 2nd round pick on a Jeremy Chinn. It could have a situation where if Carson still struggled, they would have loss another game or two, they could have been in a situation where they could drafted a QB in the top 5 pick this year and it would have been more realistic to trade Wentz

"The dead cap hits if traded for the QBs that have been reported or speculated on:
          ▫️Deshaun Watson: $21.6M
          ▫️Aaron Rodgers: $31.5M
          ▫️Jared Goff: $22.2M
          ▫️Matthew Stafford: $19M
          ▫️Jimmy Garoppolo: $2.8M
          ▫️Carson Wentz: $33.8M

Could be plenty of cap gymnastics this offseason."

SF was definitely smart to structure that contract that way. They're the team, I see most likely to move on given that cap hit compared to other QB

I wouldn't say he is bad, he's just not a "franchise QB". He, like Goff and Wentz, peaked in their SB years. What you seen in those years are the best they are going to be. Teams don't seem as patient as years past. If you think about does a team have a QB that you can build around or "set" for the next 3 seasons, I could count up to 22 teams that doesn't have one for the next 3 season.

He also appears to be injury prone. SF is the absolute best situation for a QB with his skill set with their run game and that defense

Stafford is a good option for 49ers as well. With just a 2.8 million cap hit on Jimmy G, if you feel you can improve at QB, then this the year to make that move. They're aren't likely to pick this high again if team stays healthy. They could do a Jimmy G and the #12 pick for Stafford. That way Lions could use then #7 and #12 to move up in the top 5 to get a QB and use Jimmy G as a bridge QB

Despite his struggles, I've been a fan of Drew Lock in Denver. I'm not yet at fanboy level but would like to see him be given at least another year to see what he can do.

With Paton being the new GM, I know he wants to make a splash and I'm almost certain they will be a player for Stafford. And I probably posted it here at the time but I wished they would have drafted him when they were in position to and was pretty made they passed on him. If they brought him in now, I wouldn't be mad because he would be an upgrade but for how long?

That said, Paton has made it clear that there will be a QB brought in this year, whether it be competition as a rookie, another Qb to content as starter, or a journeyman backup. Stafford would come in as the undeniable starter and I don't want them to completely give up on Lock yet.

I would LOVE for Jimmy G to come in as competition and let the best man win though. I think that's a great scenario.

I want to see stability at that position for the first time since Manning left because I'm so tired of bouncing around from QB to Qb over the years.

Yeah, I would like to Lock get one more year to prove himself. He has shown flashes. I would like to see how he'll be with another offseason to improve. They have a good young offense. You have Gordon/Lindsay at RB, Fant at TE, and Sutton/Juedy/Hamler at WR. Continue to invest in the O-Line and see if he can produce with all that.

Only issue would be if Fangio is more concerned with winning now to protect his job and go for a veteran
