Looking like David Culley will be the next Texans coach.

I mean, it’s easy to mock. The only reason I’m hesitant is because Culley has been around forever everywhere so it’s clear they’re banking on that experience to do something for their team. But man, there’s like 2-3 clear and obvious candidates and they went all the way in to left field.

I wish him well but he’s behind the 8-ball with his QB, their draft capital, their cap situation doesn’t look good, and now perception. It’s not Jim Tomsula, but these appear to be dark times for Houston fans.

20 year anniversary of the Ravens first SB win behind one of the greatest defenses of all time.

Feels like that was the last truly intimidating defense that made people literally give up (e.g. Cory Dillon refusing to go back in the game, and my lasting memory of Eddie George is him on his stomach not getting up after Ray Lewis stole a pass for him and ran it back for a TD).

Sure the Seahawks had their Legion of Boom, but they didn't affect people in the same way and were not as physical. That was very much a technique and scheme defense.

Don't think a team like those 2001 Ravens would be possible today. Article I just read over on ESPN relayed a story of Rod Woodson asking Shannon Sharpe how many points could the offense put up in the next game and Shannon replied "13" and Rod was like "hell yeah you put up that much we will win easily!"

Didn’t they go an entire month without allowing a touchdown on defense? I miss those days when you could have the #1 defense vs the #1 offense and the team with the defense had a chance regardless of how bad their offense was

What exactly does it mean if you make an official trade request? I’ve seen Florio say that if he does that it’s the point of no return, but what’s to stop the Texans from just saying no we’re not trading you?

I see it as similar to the James Harden situation. You don't want to trade a legit top player in the league especially a QB who is just 25. You're not going to get equal value and you're always gambling on draft picks. But, when your best player makes it known publicly that he doesn't want to be there, it is bad for the locker room. Especially when you have a new coach and staff coming in. Like with Rockets, it's hard to establish a new culture when there is a huge distraction in the locker room.

I don't see him turning heel like Harden, but it's obvious that he doesn't want to be there. I wouldn't want to trade a legit Franchise QB who is just entering his prime. But in the situation Houston is in, they need as many assets as possible and go on a full rebuild. Even consider trade Watt. You need to fully change culture.

Houston could call his bluff and see if Watson will sit out any of his contracted years. Pittsburgh held out on caving to Bell’s demands not too long ago.

But this is a star QB. I have no idea how that ends. I think most likely he is traded. To Carolina for Teddy and picks? Word is Houston didn’t want Tua and picks from Miami so it seems like they’re holding out hard. Jets?

Interesting the amount of pretty good or decent QB are on the market, mostly in trade situations.

                        Watson
                        Stafford
                        Jimmy G
                        Darnold
                        Wentz or Hurts

And wherever they land could throw a wrench in to that teams current starting QB situation. Also, the draft. Wonder if the Saints are thinking about keeping that window open if Brees is done too.

                        Give me more off-season!

I was thinking that for Saints. But they have the "worst" situation this offseason ahead of the Eagles. They have to trim a lot of fat just to be cap compliant. But I don't see Taysom Hill as a full time QB. Saints would be perfect if they were in a Colts like situation where Colts have a lot cap space and are a QB away from contending.

But it's crazy about the Potential QB carousel this offseason. I would add Goff to that list if he wasn't in a Wentz like contract situation. It's crazy how bad the Goff and Wentz contracts turned out to be. Both QBs got their extensions too early based off one good season. That's how it is for QBs, but I wouldn’t want to trust a QB who needs a perfect environment to be successful. Goff was more obvious because he needed McVay for him to be and essentially peaked that Superbowl season

Yep. Including the terribly obvious one.

And yet, the jabronies still don't understand Watson's grievances.

I don’t want the NFL off-season turning into the NBA version. That **** is already annoying as it is with the clickbait and lazy *** narratives they throw on certain players.

Considering he has a full no trade clause, what are the most likely landing spots for Watson? SF seems to be in the perfect spot of being ready to win now and they have a fairly high draft pick this year. Miami and the Jets have the most to offer but it seems like if he went to the Jets, they’d have to give up so many of the picks they’ve accumulated that he wouldn’t have much of a supporting cast. I’d love to see him on the Bears but they’d have to give up so much that I don’t think we’d be any better than Houston was last year in the long run
