Re: NFL Off Topic
.. I must have misinterpreted what I was reading. It didn't make sense to me that a player that was cut couldn't sign elsewhere. You want free speech?

Re: NFL Off Topic
Bills fans hitting Lamar Jackson’s charity of choice (Blessings in a Backpack) with half a mil. 11,000 donations from Bills fans. That’s like 15% capacity of the Bills stadium.
Bills fans continue to show their support to quarterback Lamar Jackson after he suffered a concussion in the Baltimore Ravens' divisional-round loss to Buffalo.Bills Mafia started donating to one of Jackson's favorite charities, Blessings in a Backpack, following Saturday's game. As of Wednesday, 16,450 individual donations totaling more than $458,000 were made to the Louisville-based organization, according to Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel.Nikki Grizzle, chief marketing officer for Blessings in a Backpack, told Wetzel she learned about the charitable movement Sunday morning when the man monitoring the organization's website sent out a mass text to staff."We get a notification every time someone donates," Grizzle said. "And when there are suddenly 400 donations on a Sunday morning in the middle of January, he said, 'Did anybody know this was happening and forget to tell me?'"By the time I looked, the 400 was up to 1,500."Grizzle noted that Jackson is "amazed" by the gesture. He released a statement Wednesday through Blessings in a Backpack thanking Bills fans for their generosity. "I would like to thank all of the Buffalo Bills Mafia fans for your generous donations and contributions," Jackson said. "I'm extremely grateful that you all communed together and donated to Blessings in a Backpack in my name. Your acts of kindness and generosity have not gone unnoticed, and it is greatly appreciated."
I don’t know how this fanbase has so much money to burn (not having to buy playoff tickets for 25 years?), but I love it. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this, having previously donated to Andy Dalton’s charity when he helped us in to the playoffs in 2017-2018. And when JA lost his grandmother the fans donated hundreds of thousands to a Children’s hospital in Buffalo.
These folks are a different breed.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
RIP Ted Thompson.
You helped continue to bring championship football to Green Bay.
In 13 seasons as general manager, Ted Thompson's teams combined for a 125-82-1 regular season record, nine postseason appearances, six NFC North titles, and a win in Super Bowl XLV. Additionally, he was responsible for drafting or signing numerous Pro Bowl players.Last edited by roadman; 01-21-2021, 02:55 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
It turns out they can’t play if they’re claimed on waivers but if they clear waivers they can sign and play. Strange rule, I suppose it stops teams from waiving guys they’re going to cut in hopes of someone in the post season absorbing their contract for the playoff runComment

"Eagles are hiring Colts' OC Nick Sirianni as their head coach, sources tell ESPN. Sirianni spent three seasons as a Chiefs' assistant coach, five seasons with the Chargers, and the past three with the Colts. Now the 39-year-old Sirianni becomes the lead man in Philadelphia."Comment

He had a great run. Holmgren credits him for levelling him off in Seattle. He helped build 4 Super Bowl teams, and helped overhaul two pretty miserable organizations at the time. You want free speech?

Re: NFL Off Topic
Philip Rivers isn't a HOFer.
Dude didn't have any clutch moments like his colleagues Favre, Manning, Brady, Eli, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Mahommes etc. For example, when they made the playoffs by beating the Broncos, it was more the Broncos choking than the Chargers coming up clutch.
Guy didn't do it all himself either. He had plenty of weapons like LT, Michael Turner, Darren Sproles, Antonio Gates etc.
He had one deep playoff run where they beat the Colts (He tore his ACL and Billy Volek actually won the game for them). Then they went up to Foxboro where they were beat. I give him props for playing on a torn ACL but you still gotta get the W.
He's with the Donovan McNabbs, Steve McNairs, Carson Palmers of the world. In the Hall of Good, not the Hall of Fame.Last edited by PeoplesChampGB; 01-21-2021, 05:24 PM.NFL- Green Bay Packers

Re: NFL Off Topic
Not sure what to feel about the Sirianni hire. Honestly never heard of him before the reports of him being interviewed couple days ago. Feels like the main goal is to fix Carson. Hope it works out.
Feels like in two years, either he "fixes" Wentz and we're heading into right direction or he'll get fired and Wentz will be gone and we'll be a bottom dweller teamComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
He's top 5 in passing yards and td passes. 12th in QB rating. Rodgers is the only active QB that will pass him by the time he is up for HOF voting. I don't see any way he doesn't get in.
I would rather see Rivers be rewarded for individual accomplishment, rather than the guys that were fortunate enough to play on teams that won Super Bowls. You want free speech?
