I always liked Rivers the best out of the 3. Just always ran into Patriots or Colts and had injuries on team. But the lack of playoff success will hurt him

The Ravens waived Mark Ingram today.. but he can't be claimed until after the Super Bowl.

Granted, no one would claim his contract, least of all in a year the cap will likely go down.. but this seems like an unfair buisness practice for the players. And I don't know why teams would prevent themselves from taking players on at this point? What if the Chiefs had lost all their RBs last week, and were totally desperate?

Sarah Thomas made it onto the Super Bowl ref team, the first woman to do so.

"The Rams are working towards hiring Raheem Morris as defensive coordinator, per sources. Morris cancelled a trip to Florida to interview for the Jags DC job that was slated for today.

(Morris & Sean McVay worked together in Tampa and Washington. NFLN linked Morris to Rams 1st.)"

          Good steal for Rams

Yeah Eli will be a shoo in just because of the 2 playoff runs, one of which was a fluke. Meanwhile, guys like Boomer Esiason are still waiting after all these years because they never got that elusive ring

Yeah, Eli getting in would seem a little less odd if he had a more impressive career overall. His career as a whole does not feel HoF level. How many seasons was he viewed as mediocre? Too many. But winning elevates guys. Look at Troy Aikman. If QBs are judged by Peyton/Brady standards it's gonna be a small HoF for QBs.

Both of them were total flukes.

2007 - PAINFULLY average team that found a pass rush at the right time
2011 - DREADFUL defense, arguably the worst Super Bowl team in its history

.. Boomer is an interesting case.

More passing yards than Steve Young, Jim Kelly, and Troy Aikman.. finished 9th all-time, less than 2400 yards behind Johnny U.. More td passes than Young and Kelly.. finished 9th all-time, only 7 tds behind Dan Fouts.

Esiason won an MVP award, something we can't say about alot of QBs. He did manage to get to a Super Bowl, but was not good in that post-season.. 45.3 comp%, 48 QB rating.

Easy to make a case for him in the early 2000s. Can't do it now, except for Kurt Warner getting in. Esiason bests him in every major category except QB rating.

Great move for both organization and coach.

They are now one of the single biggest brands in all of sports. No one would have dreamt of that 30 years ago.

Just a side note on this because it’s interesting. The Milwaukee thing has a lot more history than that. They played 2 games in Milwaukee for about 40 years. It helped them to widen their fan base to the state’s population center. To this day there are still season ticket packages that just have 2 “Milwaukee games” and some that only have six games instead of eight. By the time the 90s rolled around, they just let the agreement expire in about 93 or so (at least I think that’s how it went down). The games just didn’t make any more sense. They didn’t need them to turn a profit, and County Stadium was always a poor venue for football (the teams stood on the same sideline iirc). They were never going to get other improvements that they needed there like luxury suites, etc. etc.

I was about 12 when this all went down. My old man was buying a couple extra season tickets from a guy in town, but it was the package without the Milwaukee games. I watched Favre absolutely destroy the Bears at Lambeau so many times. The one year the Bears got a win (the week Sweetness passed, on a last-second blocked FG), the Bears game was a Milwaukee game. I’m still bitter. Christmas Day 2005 sort of made up for it though.

There has to be a nature pun somebody can use as a title.

Love both QB's, and I'll miss 'em both dearly. I haven't been as attached to Rivers since the Chargers left SD, but I did keep looking back at how many games he lost because his kicker didn't come through at the end. Shame.

Let's see what the Saints do for their QB circus now.
