    Re: NFL Off Topic

    Yeah he did his typical thing where he’s hot for a stretch of games and Buffalo was so starved for decent QB play we gave him a big fat contract. He ended the previous year hot and we started the following 5-2. This was before we knew this is what Ryan Fitzpatrick does.

    It was odd we extended him in late October, and we immediately lost 8 of the final 9 games. That was the first and last time he was ever truly the man. He’s been part of a plan everywhere else.

      Fitz is the best backup QB you could probably have but he's usually not consistent enough to stay a starter through the whole season.

        He's fully embraced his mentor role to Tua as well.

                    I like Kurt and Eli back and forth. But I super appreciated Fitz's comments about being fired and it's sitting in a room with his replacement. Like jeeeez...

                      He got passed over, not fired. Fired people don't sit in on meetings and draw paychecks.

                      I understand where he's coming from but it's a bit dramatic.

                        I agree with you to a point. Yes, he shouldn't be shocked. He's been a career back up for a team that just drafted a QB with it's number one pick (what did you think was going to happen). The other half I see where he's coming from. He's lead the team to wins the last 2 games. In blowout fashion I might add. In a blowout game. The rookie games some garbage time. And all of a sudden I'm being benched for him. At least let me fail then throw him in.

                          Always liked Tua at Alabama and will be rooting for him, but I don't know, Fitzpatrick was playing really well and the AFC East hasn't been this wide open since Brady tore his ACL in 2008.

                          I guess it's like 2004 when the Giants benched an effective Kurt Warner for rookie Eli Manning when they had a winning record. You might be sacrificing a promising season in return for speeding up the learning curve for a young QB.

                            A couple things w/ the Raiders and COVID today, as they deal w/ a positive test from Trent Brown.

                            The SNF game hosting the Bucs has been pushed up to an afternoon game, Seahawks/Cardinals is now SNF.

                            Also:

                            @RapSheet
                            The #Raiders players sent home yesterday as high-risk close contacts - a good part of the Vegas O-line and S Johnathan Abram - will go on the COVID-19 reserve list today. That does not mean they won’t play Sunday. But it does change their status for now.

                            As for Tua... Dolphins seem to be in a good position to take the Alex Smith / Patrick Mahomes route with him, but for whatever reason that isn't happening. Takes a celestial alignment to have a successful season while grooming a QB of the future, it's a shame to see a team throw away that opportunity.

                              Not sure if anyone has been paying attention to this story but ex Niners DT Dana Stubblefield was sentenced to 15 years to life. I liked him when he teamed up with Bryant Young and caused havoc, now he's apparently just a piece of **** of a human.
