Old but interesting article on Jamal Lewis and his life after football.

I have not seen a RB run as hard as he use to, but there is a price to pay for that

Cowboys are giving Dak Prescott a four-year, $160 million deal, including a record $126 million guaranteed, source tells ESPN.

The first three years average $42 million per year.

The deal can be worth up to $164 million, per source.

The deal includes $66 million to sign and $75 million in year one, the most in NFL history.

Sometimes it’s not what a player is worth, but what it means if you don’t have him.

And we saw what this team looks like when they don’t have him, especially Zeke.

At least it’s only four years.

That should be about a $25 million cap hit this year, well structured by Dallas so they can absorb the bigger hits when the cap goes back up

One of them did though, and it was one of the best moves they made. The trade for Duane Brown was a big part of the reason why they went from one of the worst ranked rushing teams in 2017 to the top ranked rushing team in 2018. Brown made an All-Pro appearance as well that year

Remember when people were criticizing the hell out of Kirk Cousins' initial contract (and subsequent extension), and yet hes proven to be the better QB each of the last 3 seasons? I'm sorry but this is a terrible deal for the Cowboys

Do you know why Dak's numbers look so good from the previous 2 seasons? It's because of both garbage time and running up the score on terrible teams. If you judged the 2019 Cowboys by surface level stats, you would have thought they were the greatest 8-8 team in NFL history. 434-321 point differential, top ranked offense by yards, top 10 defense by yards.

But none of those stats mean a damn thing when you consider that a large portion of them came from accumulating them from games such as, oh idk, 35-17 over the Giants. 31-21 over the Skins. 31-6 over the Dolphins with Rosen. 37-18 over the Giants. 35-27 over the Lions without Stafford. 47-16 over the Redskins again

If you truly analyzed the Cowboys in 2019, you would understand that the reason they didnt go to the playoffs was because of stagnating against teams worth a damn. This included losses like 17-9 to the Eagles. 13-9 to the Patriots. 24-22 to the Jets. 31-24 to the Trubisky led Bears. 12-10 to the Saints without Brees. I will never forget how the depleted Eagles beat them out for the division while Dallas ended the season in the exact same manner that it began the season - by running the score up on a terrible team when it mattered least

If you analyzed the 2020 Cowboys season at all, you would understand that Dak's statistics were totally inflated by garbage time yards and defenses relaxing like crazy. They're so misleading and yet people think he has legitimate ability to carry a team through the air. There's only 1 game where he truly showed improvement as a passer, and that was against Seattle, but it's hard to read too much into that when the Seahawks had one of the worst secondaries in the league. How can you think anything of his bulk passing stats when the Cowboys were down 29-10 to the Falcons at halftime and 41-14 to the Browns entering the 4th quarter, both times at home?

I hate this deal for the Cowboys. I cannot believe Prescott bet on himself, got hurt and lost, and still got bailed out in the end with a long term deal after all of that. Yet another case of Jerry being blind as a GM
