MLB has 162 games every year, god forbid if they moved around one of those to give NFL its champion a proper opening to the season. 1 NFL game is more valuable then one baseball game when looking at the lengths of the season. The problem really is Bud Selig is jealous that the NFL is more popular then MLB and this is one way for him to tell them to suck it.

This is asinine. The fact that baseball has 162 games means absolutely zero and you keep talking about it. Do you know how much it takes to plan and execute these events?

And the notion that this is all out of jealousy, I mean c'mon. That's NBA-fan level of discourse, dude.

Teams like the Cowboys, Steelers and more recently Patriots (to name a few) built a global fanbase by being in the public eye so much over the years. Casual fans and fans looking for a team to grab them watch THIS game. And as for the city itself, having the spotlight on it for one of the few games that anyone with even a passing interest in the NFL will be watching is huge... especially a city like Baltimore, still known as "where they filmed The Wire" so those are the biggest loses here, and I really couldn't see away around it.
Agreed. The MLB/Orioles changing their game would be more for the sports fans of Baltimore (Many I assume are fans of both the Raven's and the O's) than the NFL. I am sure the NFL would like to maintain the new tradition, and do their best for the Ravens, but in the end, I am guessing the NFL would be perfectly content having a team like the Cowboys, Patriots, Packers or Broncos open the season.

One thing I will not miss on that Thursday night is one more night of the Ray Lewis/Elaine Benes dance entrance. Maybe that can happen during the 7th inning stretch at Camden Yards instead?

Had to be real and like your post, lol. You still should be ashamed of that last paragraph. If you're going to knock Ray's dance, how can you follow it like you didn't know he doesn't even play for the team anymore? Shame. Don't worry, if Jacoby ends up in the endzone, I'll bet good money you get a tribute dance of some sort.

For the record I think it's funny that people care so much. I don't think I even watch the players intros for any other team.

I don't think you like me alot. But the point I tried making is 1 NFL game is more significant then one baseball game because the NFL season is shorter every game matters more. And no I don't, I don't plan these events for a living, how would I know what it takes to plan and execute those events? As far as what you said last hey your entitled to your own opinion.

Seriously though I had a different opinion on something god forbid that happens, apparently I get burnt at the stake for it.

The number of games doesn't make it any more significant. Say Flacco gets hurt, and the Ravens are 3-13. The team they're playing runs away with their division. The game is very insignificant then.

Again, just because you prefer one sport over the other doesn't mean the other sport has less rights which is what every supporter of changing the MLB game seems to think.

If Apple booked a hall for a business conference and Microsoft said we want that hall, they can push their conference up do you think that would fly? We are taking about two businesses here, that are competing.

I bet Flacco comes out and throws like 4 INTs in the season opener and the Ravens get trashed. Remember, this isn't "Contract Year" Joe we'll be getting and we've seen the type of effect that has on players.

Sorry, I don't care how popular the NFL is or how short the season is the opening game of any league's season is not more important or significant than a game at the tail end of the season that could have playoff implications.

They all have playoff implications, the only difference is the context.

You're from Central Massachusetts so I assume you're a Boston Red Sox fan. Tell the 2011 Red Sox that one regular season baseball game doesn't matter that much.

What am I stepping in? I'm just saying that you might think one regular season baseball game doesn't matter because there's 161 others, but one game matters a whole helluva lot, as our teams demonstrated in 2011.

You're getting defensive for no real reason.

You don't like baseball and made that clear and regardless of if you like it or not many people have posted the several reasons why the game can't be switched.

The problem is you are letting your opinion for the sports skew your reasoning.

You say they should just switch it and it has been posted over and over again why it's not that simple yet to keep trying to push that without offering any realistic counter other than "It's the NFL".
