Re: NFL Off Topic
Thank you all for the feedback, I'll get one started before next week. I bet every week but try to keep it out of the main threads but wouldn't mind discussing it. (Hit on the three game spread parlay in the late window yesterday!).
I also know this is a hot topic for our Maryland residents.
Cima, this one's for you.#RespectTheCultureComment

As someone who doesn't regularly watch/listen/read any particular pundit or commentary outside of Twitter, I've started to really like Pat McAfee.

He made a great point about the refs being indecisive. You threw the flag, now announce the ****ing penalty and let’s get to the next playComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Agreed. I don't really listen to much either, but some clips of his show started popping up as recommended on YouTube over the last couple weeks and I like what I've seen. His interview segments are great - everyone's so casual and just shooting the **** about football or whatever else. Very easy to just put on and listen to.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Baker getting sat for TNF tomorrow versus Broncos with that torn labrum he’s been dealing with. They’re not ruling him out for next week claiming that this is because it’s a short week, but it’s gonna require surgery or it’ll keep popping in and out sooo, I don’t see how he doesn’t get shut down.
Case Keenum will get the start. Considering the Browns offensive philosophy and personnel, I don’t think there will be much of a drop off. Although Chubb and Kareem Hunt are hurt or IR’ed too. D’Ernest Johnson gets the start at RB. He started one game last year and went for over 7 YPC.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

His interview with Chuck Pagano a couple weeks ago was a prime example (e.g. Pat asked Chuck if he knew how high he was from edibles on the return flight from London, and AJ spoke of how most players don't speak much to head coaches outside of games).
Its not the scripted talking points the league wants people discussing, but its also not just burying the NFL's image.Comment

I think it could be fairly significant. They will be without their entire starting backfield.
Healthy or near healthy this is a game they should win. Now its more of a toss up or question mark.
Their season started looking like they were primed for a division title, but now each game is huge for them to keep pace.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Reports out that he’s gonna play through it and get surgery after the season. They’re saying the extra rest sitting out this short week will allow him to rehab it but week after week he’s gonna be limited leading up to games. I think the team will suffer because of it. It’s obvious he wants to play so he can put together a better string of games and cash in but you’re gonna be signing a dude to an extension with a shoulder (non-throwing but still clearly affects him) injury.
I think he’ll give it a go but if Keenum doesn’t totally stink, the team might make the decision for him.
I don’t really see him turning his habits around, especially not with a busted wing and now he’s gonna want to avoid heavy contact more than the happy feet he already gets. Everyone will lose out here — he won’t put up better tape, the Browns will be playing at a % of full strength, and he’s gonna limit his potential earnings (and his value as a trade piece to the team) because teams won’t want to pay for an injured player who already is just a mid tier starter.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: NFL Off Topic
Think sitting out this week wasn't his decision. Think its definitely likely that if there isn't much of a dropoff they just put him on IR.
The team doctors and his personal doctor have already advised surgery but he fell back on the its my body, only I know what I can do with it argument.Comment

Yeah, we all know Baker is a fiery competitive dude but someone is gonna have to sit him down (Stefanski) and be like... you can’t. Contract situation be damned. It helps nobody to go out there hobbled. Go shoot a commercial kid, you might need that dough. Lol
They told us Allen and Jackson had severe limitations and Darnold, Baker and Rosen were pro ready, strong jawline, natural born leader Mister Quarterback. Welp.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

For Jackson, I'm biased but I think its a testament to the Ravens coaching staff. I don't think its as simple as the scouts were wrong. To an extent they obviously were, but I think the bigger issue was that they were evaluating Lamar within the scope of him executing their offense (the standard NFL offense). Ravens said you know what, lets suit the offense to him and try something different.
His biggest weakness coming into the league is still his biggest weakness:
I watched this live and it was very apparent that Lamar was not comfortable or good with outside breaking routes where he has to put it on a rope (so the short to intermediate stuff). He's better at the intermediate to deep outside stuff where he can tear drop it. The one post-corner that he hung and it came up short, that was because the WR ran a horrible route. Was nowhere near the cone when he made his break.
Past couple seasons our passing game attacked the middle of the field. When you're one dimensional like that its easy to defend. But now with Brown's development and other additions to the WR corp, we don't just attack the middle. Lama has been excellent at that intermediate to deep outside pass, while still inconsistent at the shorter outside stuff. He's good to flat out miss a back in the flats at least once a game lol.Comment
