    NFL Off Topic

And why do they need to be protected? Oh, from the super rich and powerful people within the NFL and their associates who did all kinds of slimy stuff that’s apparently bad enough that they would go after the people who came forward. Which makes it all the more important we know who and what they did.

With Congress already looking at it, we may get some info from FOIA requests. The NFL may be covering their own *** with Goodell making it policy that they won’t release the info on their own, but if they’re forced to...

Gruden falling while a bunch of others skate will probably come back to bite them unless Gruden is given some sweet perks to not pursue it. And with his career in the NFL likely done (at least for a while), it wouldn’t surprise me if a position or money to keep it quiet is offered to him to do so.

So it’s okay to leak Gruden’s emails, but no one else’s?

Brilliant stuff from the NFL there.

"Sources: Owner David Tepper and the #Panthers are not expected to pursue #Texans QB Deshaun Watson at this time. The QB has only waived his no-trade clause for the #Dolphins."

        Pretty much Miami or bust

I don't get why its still in the news cycle. Its not unusual in either way. Coaches frequently get asked about such rumors, and Tomlin frequently gets testy.

Everyone knows "people who came forward" = the NFL.
They do not want this stuff out there so it should come as no surprise. How people could know this and still push the theory that the NFL leaked the Gruden emails for reasons is beyond me.

            I don’t blame him, I would too.

Y’all ain’t bout to keep asking me the same got damn question every year and expect me to answer it the same way each time. And then get bothered by how I respond to it.

I don't either, but his testiness isn't just for coaching rumor questions. He's in the same mold as Belicheck who just has zero patience for the dumb questions the media asks. Belicheck is just more well known for it because its NE and because he has that angry get off my lawn or I'll shove my new balance up your rear look on his face

I wouldn’t be able to help myself if I was Tomlin and got that question. I’d probably respond yes I’ll be taking the USC job next question

This is the first time he's ever been asked.

The rumors were started by others outside of the media.

The reporter who asked this question is a fantastic reporter who I very much respect (not that THAT means anything) and isn't a hot take guy. He has said he asked it simply because of the outside noise on the situation and it was a question people wanted to hear the answer to.

He's also said he loved the answer he got from Tomlin and he did not ask it until the more "important" relevant questions about this week had been asked and answered.

Actually my words mean a lot less than his: https://triblive.com/sports/tim-benz...lins-response/

I'd be a cheeky basterd and troll the media.

"Thats actually a good question, and I wanted to wait until later to make this announcement, but I do have some very important news to share. This job takes a toll on you, both physically and mentally. I do wonder how long I can do this. Thats why...(pulls out a snuggie blanket)...when I get home I like to sit on my couch and relax with my snuggie blanket. Nothing is better after a stressful day, and for $19.99 you can do what a Superbowl Winning coach does. Even better, they now come in a special Winnie The Pooh theme. Get yours today"

If I could get a sponsorship deal ahead of time even better

Tomlin is no fool. He knows he's in a good spot and has a comfort level there. To go from that to the year-round grind of college football would be dumb. There's just so many added layers of time requirements and relationships and stress at the college level. Always thought it was easier going from college to the NFL than vice versa, unless you are the dictator type like Saban.

Why? It is the literal perfect situation for him.

Sure its jumping to conclusions, but if I was a NFL GM I don't think I'd want any part of that trade.

I was surprised as well. I get that the top 3 WRs are Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson. But He's "home", defined role, contender. Any more of an increased role will lead to an injury for him.

Apparently he's only played 30% of the snaps or something. He must not agree that an increased role would lead to an injury
