I loved Claypool when he was drafted and he had a terrific rookie season. Since then, he's been trash (partly Matt Canada's fault for not maximizing his limited strengths). He may have the measurables of Megatron but he's horrid.

With his size he should be a beast on jump balls. But instead of high-pointing the ball, he tries to catch everything at chest height and if he doesn't **** it up himself then a 5'8" DB knocks it away (see Pickett's first career pass).

Pittsburgh spent a 2nd round pick on him (49th overall), found out he's trash, and shipped him off for what projects to be the 39th overall pick. That's robbery and Bears fans should be pissed.

Is there a chance he gets it together? Sure. Could the Bears fix him? I guess, but if the Steelers can't make a receiver out of you, is it fair to expect anyone can (let alone the Bears)?

There is not a single sane Steelers fan that is not overjoyed about this move and this haul. I would have understood taking a 5th and been ok with a 4th. A 3rd would have made me happy. A 2nd (and potentially a high 2nd)? I've read several comments from Steelers fans over the last several weeks where some fan would say "I'd trade him for a 2nd" and universally the replies would be "[emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38][emoji38] No team is that stupid".

Great work, Mr. Khan and good luck Chase. Sorry it didn't work out in Pittsburgh.

Lol well that’s certainly one take. Not one most Bears fan remotely agree with or is unbiased but that’s one take. Guess it’s all about perspective. I’ll take this trade every single time from a Bears perspective.

Looks like after he expected to be traded, Brandin Cooks missed practice for personal reasons and will not be playing tonight.

Sounds like’s trying to force the issue so they can release him and he can hit FA.

Cooks signed an extension with Houston this offseason which included a good amount of guaranteed money, cited as being an issue for teams that wanted to trade for him. Wonder if he’s basically trying to void the contract by not showing up.

I'm not sure if you're suggesting that what I said is my "rogue take" but it's shared by many.

If not all, then nearly all were surprised when the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to net a second-round draft pick in exchange for third-year wide receiver Chase Claypool earlier this week just before the trade deadline. While Claypool is physically gifted and has had some production in the past, the reality on the field hasn’t lived […]

I could direct you to lots of articles and video from over the past year and a half as to why so many are disenchanted with Claypool. It's not my hot take.

Either way, if it works out for Chicago that's cool. I'm happy (and collectively Steelers fans are) with Pittsburgh getting a high 2 for a guy who was going to play out his rookie deal and probably not be re-signed.

tbh I think the deal can be a win-win for both teams. Claypool plays well for the Bears and the Steelers grab someone in the top of the second.

It's crazy how seemingly well things started out for the first 3 seasons after the McDaniels debacle. They had one of the top OLs a couple seasons ago and soon to be stud RB. I do think Chris Ballard is next. I get Andrew Luck retiring after Reich's first season put a wrench in the plans. But they kept going the stop-gap route at QB every season since.

Have to embrace the rebuild. Read that he was a consultant. You fired your OC, then HC. They have guys like John Fox and Gus Bradley on staff, heck Reggie Wayne lol. I wonder who calls plays

Saturday as interim HC is the most completely out of left field move of left field moves.

I'm sure you can. And anyone can show articles that say the opposite. I think it was a fantastic trade. Plenty do as well. "So bad on the Bears end" just seems way over the top, but thats just me looking at it from the Bears perspective. It was a football trade by two teams that had exactly what the other wanted. It's not some lopsided deal where the Steelers walk away with some huge pillaging. Come on now.
