Personally, I hate it. I think we already have too many playoff teams as is. That's as a fan though, not the business side of things.

Really? I like the current format. Having two wildcards can offset the occasional awful division winner. I'd like to see it remain at 12 teams.

The NFL probably has it the most right of the 4 major sports, so it's not broken. But adding 1 more per conference won't break it either. I like it as a fan and as a business decision.

I had posted about Goodell wanting to make changes earlier in the week and as I said then, I don't like it. This is just going to further dillute the product.

I disagree with that diluting the product spiel. Adding teams to the league dilutes the product.

The playoffs are a different monster. You could add 2/3 of the league and it would still be awesome because it's the situation, not the quality of the teams. Win or go home.

The NHL has over half the league in its playoff format, yet it's the best, most intense of the major sports. And that's with 7 game series too!

I'm glad you see it that way but if a 7-9 team somehow wins a SB you know there'll be a lot of crying from people.

The NHL playoffs are not the best. Like the NBA, the first few rounds are already settled before they are played. MLB and NFL have the two best formats. It keeps the best teams in the game and the middle of the field of bad teams are gone.

Crying because their team lost yes. If a 7-9 teams wins the superbowl what does that say about the league?

Good for business, not something I'd want to see as a fan. I like things the way they are.

I've no issue with a 7-9 team winning, I have an issue with a 7-9 team getting blown out in a relatively uncompetitive ball game in the "wild card" round.

Buffalo went 9-7 in 2004 but they had no business in the playoffs that year. That is what an expanded playoff will look like.

Until that bad team wins it all right? Not sure how one extra team is THAT earth shattering when 'bad' wildcard teams have won the superbowl before. Just a bunch of guys who dont want change. This isnt a big deal. If anything teams who get the 2 seed could be annoyed.

Even 1 seeds get blown out occasionally. So thats not a good argument against this.

I just don't like it. I think the 4 division winners only would be good to me but meh. That will never happen.

I hate this thing of rewarding more and more people for just doing their jobs.

Im ok with a 7-9 team winning the super bowl, not ok with a 7-9 team hosting a playoff game.

They need to re-seed the playoffs, biggest improvement they can make to the existing format.

Im OK with additional teams also, but re-seeding based on record is what I want to see most. I want to see the 'locked in' teams continuing to compete at a high level.

Except I gave you an example of a Buffalo Bills team that couldn't beat the second stringers for Pittsburgh who were 9-7. No business in the playoffs.

You dont know what would have happened in the playoffs. Crazier things have happened there.
