Personally, I hate it. I think we already have too many playoff teams as is. That's as a fan though, not the business side of things.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Really? I like the current format. Having two wildcards can offset the occasional awful division winner. I'd like to see it remain at 12 teams.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Re: NFL Off Topic
The NFL probably has it the most right of the 4 major sports, so it's not broken. But adding 1 more per conference won't break it either. I like it as a fan and as a business decision.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I had posted about Goodell wanting to make changes earlier in the week and as I said then, I don't like it. This is just going to further dillute the product.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I disagree with that diluting the product spiel. Adding teams to the league dilutes the product.
The playoffs are a different monster. You could add 2/3 of the league and it would still be awesome because it's the situation, not the quality of the teams. Win or go home.
The NHL has over half the league in its playoff format, yet it's the best, most intense of the major sports. And that's with 7 game series too!NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

I'm glad you see it that way but if a 7-9 team somehow wins a SB you know there'll be a lot of crying from people.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Good for business, not something I'd want to see as a fan. I like things the way they are.
First few rounds of the NHL playoffs are anything but already set before being played.Comment

Buffalo went 9-7 in 2004 but they had no business in the playoffs that year. That is what an expanded playoff will look like. Thanks to LBzrules: So these threads won't be forever lost.

Re: NFL Off Topic
I've no issue with a 7-9 team winning, I have an issue with a 7-9 team getting blown out in a relatively uncompetitive ball game in the "wild card" round.

Even 1 seeds get blown out occasionally. So thats not a good argument against this.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Im ok with a 7-9 team winning the super bowl, not ok with a 7-9 team hosting a playoff game.
They need to re-seed the playoffs, biggest improvement they can make to the existing format.
Im OK with additional teams also, but re-seeding based on record is what I want to see most. I want to see the 'locked in' teams continuing to compete at a high level.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Until that bad team wins it all right? Not sure how one extra team is THAT earth shattering when 'bad' wildcard teams have won the superbowl before. Just a bunch of guys who dont want change. This isnt a big deal. If anything teams who get the 2 seed could be annoyed.
