I would put the 2010 Packers offensive line as below average. Not bad, but not good by any stretch of the imagination.

Nothing to really base this off, but I would mention the 2006 Colts. Jeff Saturday and Tarik Glenn were the only names and Glenn was at the end of his career.

The Colts was the only team I could think of before some of the other teams were mentioned.

I thought they OK, all things considered.

Average at best that year, horrible in run block but good in Pass Pro.

I ask because the Texans downfall this year on the field is mostly due to a horrendous offensive line. Tough to win in this league without a damn good OL, IMO.

Tell me about it. Redskins have one linemen who should be wearing an NFL uniform.

True. I think your question is hard to answer though. The Ravens line, for example, were night and day in the playoffs last year. McKinnie has proven that it was an anomoly for him. I think that's true with other areas too (see Colts D when they won the SB). Lines, or other areas, could be bad all year and have a great stretch at the right time.

Not sure if it's a matter of "arm chairing." Anyone who did quickie logic at the time could have realized that kicking the FG there was stupid.

Chain of events that Smith was counting on for the FG option:

                  1. Bryant makes the 52 yard field goal.
                  2. Falcons stop the Saints' offense after the ensuing kickoff and get the ball back.
                  3. They drive down the field
                  4. Bryant makes the FG, Falcons win.

They would have had to accomplish this in a little over 2 minutes.

                  Versus:

                  1. Completing the 4th and 15
                  2. Moving the ball an additional 20 yards or so and scoring a TD.

No times constraints for this option either.

This is all compounded by the fact that Mike Smith is coaching a dumpster fire at the moment, in a game versus a divisional rival. What did he have to lose?

My post had nothing to do with that particular moment and was speaking moreso in general and I've made that known plenty of times how much I cannot stand it.

Actually the Colts 2006 offensive line was pretty good. That was the last good line we had though. It went downhill after the season. Partially due to Tarik Glenn retiring who I still think was one of the most underrated tackles in the league. He wasn't Ogden or Orlando Pace but he really didn't get much recognition until the last couple years of his career.

See, that's why I didn't post it until Rob mentioned them because I too had nothing to back it up!

I just knew you'd been incognito for awhile and would be the only one to prove me wrong lol.

Figures you show up on a Manning verse Brady night lol.

As you watch today's “race” for the sixth seed in the AFC, keep in mind that the NFL wants to add two more teams to the playoff format.

Not a big deal, it's only one more team per conference and this year is a bit of an anomaly with the way the AFC is going.

I think it would be a good thing.

Wouldn't change much, it just becomes race for the 6th and 7th seed.
