Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Bitter? I remember before last season arguing w/ Kingkilla that Eli was just OK. Dude balled out last year and in the Superbowl. He's a top 5 QB. I'd take him over goofy *** Romo in a heart beat.
I bet most Cowboys fans would say the same.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Former New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer says Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is better than Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
What makes this interesting is that Toomer played with Manning for five seasons in New York.
"Tony Romo is probably, if you look at it, statistically, he's probably the best quarterback in the NFC East," Toomer said on the "Movin' the Chains" show on SiriusXM NFL Radio. "You look at Eli Manning and what he does in the fourth quarter, but you talk about consistency, talking about 31 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions, that guy (Romo) can play."
Romo is 18-19 in his career against the NFC East and 5-7 against the Giants, including three losses at Cowboys Stadium.
Manning, fresh off his second Super Bowl title, is 26-20 versus the NFC East and 9-6 against the Cowboys. He never has lost at Cowboys Stadium.
"I'm talking about for me, if I wanted a guy that is going to throw less interceptions and be more productive, higher completion percentage, I'm going to go with Tony Romo," Toomer said.
Yet, the receiver backtracked slightly when told of Romo's late-game struggles.
Manning has 21 fourth-quarter comebacks and 25 game-winning drives, with four of the victories coming against the Cowboys, including one this past season.
Of Romo's 13 fourth-quarter comebacks, only one has come against the Giants.
"At crunch time, he's not as good as Eli," Toomer said. "But every other time, he's pretty darn good."
Toomer did not address Manning's 2-0 edge over Romo in Super Bowls. Manning has eight playoff wins in his career, including a road victory in Dallas, compared to Romo's one.
While Manning is undefeated in NFC title games, Romo has yet to reach one. Manning also has the head-to-head edge against Romo, winning the past five starts against him.http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8134031/amani-toomer-says-tony-romo-better-quarterback-eli-manningFormer New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer said Thursday that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is better than Giants counterpart Eli Manning.Comment

Where Does Flacco Rank
As a Ravens fan, I blieve he is around to top 10. I know, I know.. the Ravens are a run first team. I have watched this guy ever since he''s been in the league. I have jumped up in joy and gotten angry because of this guy's play. But he has taken this Ravens team to new heights. When we win the Superbowl, he will be the reason.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
As I posted in the dedicated thread for this that exists for God only knows what reason, if one were to swap Romo and Eli I don't think the two teams do any differently. I don't think there's a significant difference between the two, they are both top-ten quarterbacks.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Meanwhile Romo has seemed to come up short in every big game he's played in - games w/ the division title on the line against Philly in 08 (?) and NYG last year, the Seattle game in 07. I don't think you can overlook Eli's playoff success as if it's nothing just because Romo has marginally better reg season stats. The great QBs show up when the most is on the line. Eli's been able to do that while Romo hasn't just yet.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
Eh, my feeling is that Eli has shown he can come up big in the biggest of moments. GW SB drives, big playoff wins on the road. Not saying that Romo is a bad QB, but with the game on the line it's hard to argue that he's better than Eli.

No one is saying Romo sucks, but to say Romo is equal or better than Eli TODAY doesn't make sense to me at all. Even Jerry Jones realizes that Eli is better.

Re: NFL Off Topic 2012
I'm not exactly sure looking to Jerruh as a beacon of football knowledge is the wisest thing to do based on how he ran the Cowboys in the early 2000s, lol.
Look, I fully understand the argument that can be made for Eli, and I'm not attempting to discredit him. Particularly last season, he was tremendous in the fourth quarter of just about every close game the Giants played. Rather I'm arguing for Tony Romo, and I still would personally rather have Romo, perhaps out of familiarity. He has the talent and the numbers, but he doesn't have the marquee wins with as great consistency. Wins are not solely on the quarterback, however, despite how much we glorify the position in this era of the NFL.
Romo is absolutely not the problem with the Cowboys, and I see him as someone who is obviously talented enough to win a Super Bowl. I still don't think that the Cowboys or Giants would be any better or worse off if the two passers were straight-up swapped and I haven't seen a convincing argument to that end judging on individual talent and accolades alone.
I fully realize that winning is the be-all end-all in the NFL, but a quarterback doesn't win a Super Bowl by himself. I stand by my opinion, perhaps stubbornly.
I wish it was football season already.Comment

I'm not buying the 'swap them and you get the same results' argument either. Fact is, Romo's really not performed all that well in playoff games and games with playoff implications, while Eli has been exceptional in those situations.Comment
