It would also influence playcalls, due to setting up at more extreme parts of the field...

As far as the XP goes:

Why not just make the team line up for the kick on the 30, so the kick is a 47 yarder?

Less "automatic" makes and also creates a "weather factor", which MANY games has this year...

You'd really have to think about trying a 47 yard kick for one point on a windy and / or snowy day...
I was going to make this point. If you have it so that kicks are coming from odd angles than it isn't such an automatic thing and may actually bring strategy back into the kicking game and not just XPs.

As for Hard Knocks, I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills on there. I'd like to get a deeper insight into how Doug Marrone coaches up his guys and to see the development of EJ Manuel up close and personal. Thing is, Buffalo isn't a sexy team so it'll be a cold day in hell when they're on HBO.

how bout extra point kicks from the 40!!! That would give teams a headache in either trusting your kicker or taking a major risk...

One side note if they ever do move XP kicks back....Does anyone see Kickers becoming alittle more vital and pay raises coming there way?
      atleast..Its not Delaware

Only if the conversion % drops by 20% or something.

Because it's a waste of time, and an unnecessary injury risk, to line up for a play that's a 99.9999999% certainty.

There is nothing wrong with it if we are being honest. But football like most business and organization should always look to evolve and improve their business model. If coaches, players and fans are saying the extra point is boring there is nothing wrong with looking to change/improve that aspect of the game.

Who gives a **** if the XP is boring?(Not directed at you Rob, just saying in general)

I think they could possibly move it back to make the XP "more difficult" than it is, but I don't think they NEED to change it so I do agree with coogrfan in if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Honestly, this shouldn't even be a high priority for the league.

Agreed. As long as they don't force teams to go for 2.

I mean I wouldn't exactly say it's the highest of their priorities. Goodell said the competition committee is discussing it and it will happen eventually. No real timetable.

I don't have any numbers to back this up, but I would be willing to bet that statistically speaking the PAT is far and away the safest play in football.

The kneel down has roughly the same probability of success and is also an "unnecessary injury risk" (less so now that Greg Schiano is out of the league), but I haven't heard anyone clamoring to remove that from the sport.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see the need to tinker with this.

The legend of Tony Romo was built on an extra point attempt. Rob Gronkowski was injured on an extra point attempt. Leave it alone. Maybe the NFL should focus more of their energy on making the games worth attending. Stop tinkering with on the field things that do not need changing.
