    Re: NFL Off Topic

All of the complaints about the Thursday games I've seen so far is between division rivals:

    49ers/Seahawks
    Ravens/Steelers
    Jets/Patriots

Pretty favorable Vikings schedule, I'm happy with it. I'm optimistic about this year.

Things I'll never understand...Cowboys and Eagles twice in a 19 day span.

Dallas has the Sunday Nighter against NY then turn around and play Thursday afternoon...cool...then another Thursday game.

Apparently the NFL really digs the "Romo/Dallas can't win in Dec" meme:

          10 NOV 9 12:00PMCST ) AT JAGUARS
          11 BYE
          12 NOV 23 7:30PMCST ' AT GIANTS
          13 NOV 27 3:30PMCST ) EAGLES
          14 DEC 4 7:25PMCST , AT BEARS
          15 DEC 14 7:30PMCST ' AT EAGLES
          16 DEC 21 3:25PMCST * COLTS
          17 DEC 28 12:00PMCST ) AT REDSKINS

Five of the last seven on the road including all three divisional foes in what should be cold weather games?

          Thanks for nothing, Roger.

If NFL wanted someone to buy the Bills though, shouldn't they have at least 1 more Bills game on national TV? At least show potential owners the NFL is willing to have Bills getting national coverage.

Based on strength of schedule, Broncos,Chargers,49ers,Seahawks,Chiefs have the hardest schedule of all playoff teams from last year.

Ravens and Colts have easiest schedule of all above .500 teams

No, all a potential owner needs to look at are the television contracts that all the teams share. I don't know why people are surprised when boring and mediocre teams don't get nationally televised games.

They bring ratings. The Bills have a history that only people in Buffalo and parts of Canada care about, they have no recent success to justify putting them on tv, and they aren't an exciting team to watch. It's not hard to figure out why the NFL would avoid taking spots from teams that people actually want to see.

Yeah, it's the way it is. Same way the Flyers play the Penguins at least a few times on NBC's national broadcast for the NHL while other teams never see the spotlight. It gets tiring seeing the same old teams, though.

I'd say the Bills do have some players who are exciting, though. Stevie, Spiller, and a young QB in Manuel. Not to mention the defensive line and Kiko Alonso. If they take steps to become more competitive, they'll find themselves on one of Thanksgiving, SNF, or MNF.

Their week off is prior to the Giants game.

Baltimore wasn't a playoff team last year.

And speaking of their schedule, I believe they have 5 of their 6 division games in the first 9 weeks of the season, which seems like an odd scheduling choice.

                              • Goodell: possible owners vote on expanded playoffs for 2014 @ May 20 mtg. But he said if no vote is taken then, won't happen this season.

                              • Dean Blandino said NFL will experiment w/ extra points in preseason from the 15-yard line - not the 20 - as announced at owners meetings.
                              • Blandino said competition committee made recommendation within the past week to have PAT kicks from the 15 instead of the 20.
                              • The feeling from some clubs about PAT experimentation was that kicks were too tough from 20. Compromise was the 15.

I saw Shawn officiate a couple times last year in the NCAA. He's a LOT better than his father as a ref. He gets his fellow officials to make the call quickly and he takes charge on the field. I think he'll be a good NFL ref.

While the NHL isn't "actively" seeking expansion there's talk that Seattle and Vegas may be announced as new NHL cities sooner than later.
