    Pretty good read.

      Fellow Falcons fans..

The throwback uniform dates are Sunday, Sept. 30 vs. Carolina at the Georgia Dome and Thursday, Nov. 29 vs. New Orleans at the Georgia Dome.
      Ed Reed on Julio Jones

“I’ve seen a lot of receivers in my time. I expected Jones to be better this year with the quarterback he has throwing to him, and Roddy White’s leadership and with Coach Smith’s detail-oriented style of coaching. They’re going to be good. And I told Jones after the game he looked good, and to keep building on it.”

Not really. Marvin wanted him to tone his act down and, as we know, he didn't want to. I always said that act wears thin when the team isn't doing well. I think Carson Palmer had a problem with him though.

So apparently Vincent Jackson came out and said Josh Freeman is going to prove he's one of the top 5 QBs in the NFL this year...

            ...

            ...

I don't even know what to say.

Would it really surprise you if he has a better year than Eli, Big Ben, Romo, etc?

Their line is now a strength, they have a talented backfield to keep defenses honest, and he has some decent receivers. What if he shows a big improvement from 2 years ago?

After the top tier (Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and possibly Peyton) the next tier of QBs is pretty fluid.

Yes, it would surprise me a lot if he jumped all those guys (and the several you didn't list) compared to last year.

Yes it'd be a huge surprise, and you can add a handful of other names I don't expect him jumping either. The only name with the similar "style" if you want to call it that is Big Ben, but Ben's rep isn't based on stats (I think he's only had one "fantasy" quality year), it's W's... and BIG W's... and over time. It's literally impossible for Freeman to get those, even if TB won the SB bc that's just one. So we're just talking about stats and I'd go as far as to say it'd be out of character for him to surpass at least 10-12 QBs based on stats.

In short, yes. I would be in awe if he were to have a better year than those guys.

Would you have said that if the comment was made prior to last years season? Freeman was consistently a talking point for that year.

                        Re: NFL Off Topic 2012

I LOVE Josh Freeman. I think he's our guy for the considerable future. And I do see a lot of similarities between him and Big Ben. But Schiano wants to pound the rock and basically just set up play action and have Freeman take an occasional shot down the field. I'd be very surprised if he ends up being a top 5 QB this year. I think he can throw somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 TDs and 10 INTs, which would be great. But not enough to be top 5.

Yes... it's not his game. Even his good year was efficient and a large part to team success, not a jaw dropping statistical year.

                            I'd take a 61% completion rate, 3400 yards, 25/6 td/int year from a quarterback every year.

I mean I am spoiled with Rodgers but if he puts up those numbers consistently he's good enough to be in that 2nd tier to me.

Apologies I misread your post. No not consistently yet. He's going into his 4th year. He's showed those numbers are possible for him.

Its not such a leap for me to think they are possible though. His OLine is way better, he's got a decent backfield duo, and better receivers.
