Thoughts on this? Frankly I think it makes sense to allow those calls to be challenged. I've always been in the "get the call right at all costs" camp. I doubt the NFL ever implements the suggestion, however.
Swearinger will be flagged regardless of what he does or doesn't do. If you make this reviewable, where does it end? Just keep the toothpaste in the tube.

The fact that pass interference isn't already reviewable is a joke considering how massive of a penalty it can be. If you can gain 50 yards on one penalty, it should be reviewable.

NFL released their followup to the TMZ report... basically said security is run by the NJ Police, they asked NJPD for relevant info and was not given access to the video.

            Edit:

Security for Atlantic City casinos is handled by the NJ State Police. Any videos related to an ongoing criminal investigation are held in the custody of the state police. As we said yesteray: We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator. That video was not made available to us.

/shrug. People will see what they want at this point, it either slowly just goes away or any further investigation will probably want to see docs related to requesting that data... since you don't provide information like that without a paper trail.

Most I think will begin moving on at this point.

I'll just assume things right now...

NFL knew NJPD didn't have access to inside elevator
NFL didn't want to see what went on
NFL knew they could say they asked for all evidence to CYA
NFL was holding out video wouldn't see light of day
                  NFL now has an excuse
NFL will just weather the storm and all will be fine and forgotten

Most I think will begin moving on at this point.

Then let's see that paper trail.

If there is none, then the NFL and Goodell is caught in a lie.

Someone needs to pursue this. That someone should probably be the NFLPA. I can see why they would reluctantly fight the suspension to Rice originally, but now the NFL is saying okay okay indefinite suspension. It's the NFLPA's job to check the NFL. I know they're neutered compared to other PA's, but they need to act. It's not on Rice's behalf now. It's to make sure the NFL can't do whatever they want to the players the NFLPA is supposed to protect.

Everyone professes outrage over this domestic abuse stuff, so let's see someone do something.

Something has been done, all the remains for the most part is the witchhunt.

Just plainly say you want Goodell out, it has nothing to do with domestic violence.

I'm actually one of the few who doesn't mind Goodell. I understand why he's instituted a lot of the rules he has. It's a tough job. I have no vendetta against Goodell.

But he's taken this moral high ground, and to see this blow up on him if he truly saw the video and denied it... That's grounds for dismissal/resignation.

He's dished out a lot of punishments. Played God a bit with guys careers, whether they deserved it or not. Well, it's time to pay up.

So can someone explain this. Rice was suspended for two games... Ravens and NFL talk about the stand up individual Rice is and how this was a one time mistake... NFL announces DV policy that states 6 games for a first offense... Ravens release Rice... NFL suspendes him indefinitely.

So while I get that the video is disturbing. Isn't this the same guy who Goodell and the Ravens spoke so glowingly about? Why didn't he get 6 games?

This is my problem with Goodell as the guy who doles out discipline he is wildly inconsistent in everything he does.

Yeah I don't understand that either. Nor did I know that the policy is 6 games 1st offense and banned for 2nd offense. So they first went way under what their policy states for a first offense and then now have gone way over it by changing it to an indefinite suspension(not that I'm complaining, just interesting).
