Re: NFL Off Topic
He was indicted for child endangerment (or whatever terminology they're using). The last part of that blurb is just giving you a refresher of what happened to Adrian's son who was murdered.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Rapoport says it stems from disciplining his child with a switch.
What does that mean?University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: NFL Off Topic
It's still confusing (to me anyway). I remember when that story came out and the talk around it. It seemed pretty clear that AP didn't even know about the child and still felt terrible about what happened. This blurb pretty much summarizes that situation (in which nothing bad said about AP) so where are the details of his role in child endangerment?Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
It's a developing story so there aren't a whole lot of details yet. All they've brought forth is the charge and county.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
As someone who's grandmother made get a switch or two in his day tree branch while technically correct, makes it sound worse than it is because it's not literally using a hard branch like one might typically think of lolComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
I doubt they would just charge him without some kind of physical evidence. Now whether this is an acceptable method of disciplining a child is up for debate, and I don't really have an opinion on that. But you have to think it's more than "spanking" for a charge to be brought.Comment

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was reportedly indicted on Friday for reckless or negligent injury to a child in North Montgomery County, Texas. Peterson’s attorney, Rustin Hardin, declined to comment, according Houston's KRIV-TV sports director. Peterson, who has been named First-Team All-Pro three times and has played in six Pro Bowls, missed team practice Thursday. Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer said it was for a "veteran's day." TMZ reports that Child Protective Services have confirmed they are working on a case involving Peterson and an 11-year-old boy. NFL.com's Ian Rapaport reports that Peterson testified before a grand jury weeks ago and his arrest "stems from the discliplining of a son with a switch, source says." Fox Sports' Jay Glazer says Peterson has been cooperating with law enforcement and will have to turn himself in.
Peterson's 2-year-old son, Tyrese, was killed last year, allegedly by his mother's live-in boyfriend at the time, Joseph Robert Patterson. Patterson was freed on bail last October but arrested again in June on kidnapping and assault charges against Tyrese's mother. Patterson still faces child abuse and murder charges for the boy's death. Peterson has said that he learned only two months prior to the boy's death that he was his father and had planned on visiting to meet him.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
Thursday Night Football is a resounding hit. I'm fairly certain we've had some disagreement around here on whether or not this would work on a national scale instead of just for NFL Network. It did. Because the NFL is infallible.
The season-opener for CBS and NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football — featuring the controversy-laden Baltimore Ravens and their rival Pittsburgh Steelers — drew a 13.7/23 overnight household rating and share. In primetime alone, the game drew a 12.9 overnight, making it CBS’s highest-rated Thursday since May of 2006. That is why you pay hundreds of millions for one season of Thursday Night Football. Why pay hundreds of millions of dollars for Thursday Night Football, of all things? There’s no denying, the schedule’s not as good, and because of the lack of lead time heading up to the game, the product is not as good. Consider that CBS also had the deck stacked against it, with a game airing during Read more...Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: NFL Off Topic
Is this some kinda ploy intended to distract us from Goodell? Cuz this is as non-story as it gets. I caught worse whuppin's than a switch from a tree.
I bet it wasn't even a weeping willow switch like what I used to get whupped with. Crap hurt worse than a regular ol' belt.Comment
