Re: NFL Off Topic
1. I understand the extra point has become a non-competitive play, but removing it completely feels a bit extreme. Why not push the yardage back? Is the alternative to award teams seven for a touchdown?
2. Browns are a mess and make for the perfect Hard Knocks participant.
3. Raiders to St. Louis will take some getting used to. Any scenerio removing that boring *** dome the Rams play in is a win, though. Is a football team in St. Louis really necessary? Is the city that important to the NFL?
4. Yup, if I am an NFL player a trip to Brazil sounds better than whatever location the Super Bowl is to be played at. Still don't think players change their minds about attending.Last edited by areobee401; 03-23-2015, 01:14 PM.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
In response to nobody (just found this fact), in 1993 the St. Louis Stallions was the proposed location and name for the Patriots to relocate.
Saw that as I was looking to see how long the NFL has been in St. Louis. What I found was a few random teams in the 20s and 30s, then 1960-1987 and 1995-Present.
The Rams were in Los Angeles from 1946-1995. It absolutely makes sense to move them back.Boston Red Sox

And he could possibly be out in only 38 months? Terrible.
Hopefully it's hell.Last edited by Brandon13; 03-23-2015, 01:37 PM.Comment

I honestly don't care who ends up there, all I know is if I lived there, the Raiders would be the team I would want. The Raiders brand is far more appealing than the Rams in my opinion.
And I know St. Louis has a long standing relationship with the NFL, my question is just how important is that market to the league that Oakland has to move there. Would anyone outside of there actually care if St. Louis lost their team?Comment

The Raiders also played in Los Angeles longer.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Hoping this opens the door to more Sunday Ticket-style providers but minus the TV subscription:
@KevinClarkWSJ:
Hmm: Bills-Jags game in week 7 will be broadcast nationally only over a digital platform (youtube or someone else). First time in history.
Bills-Jags will air on local tv in home markets. But the game, played in London, will be broadcast everywhere else by TBD digital site.
To be clear, this is a big deal. This is the NFL telling internet companies (facebok, youtube, google): "Our games are available NOW."
This Jaguars-Bills game will not be on Sunday Ticket.Comment

Smart of the NFL to test the waters. Things like Sling TV, and the new service that will be rolled out on Apple TV, are direct competitors to cable, the NFL can get their hands in both of them.Comment

NFL are going with a gold theme for Super Bowl 50 (golden anniversary), including new uniforms for the Pro Bowl.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Other news of note:
- Putting the Pro Bowl in Brazil is just asking for trouble. We've seen in previous years where players have gotten in trouble for soliciting or getting into drugs before the SB well, putting a game in Brazil I'm sure we'll hear a plethora of stories about some of these big time players getting in deep doo doo.
- Browns on Hard Knocks? Zzzzzzzz....I'm sure it'll be the Johnny Football show though.
- No local blackouts YESSS!!! This should've been done a decade ago or more.
- Golden color scheme for SB 50 is pretty much expected but I think it's really neat that it carried over to the pro bowl uniforms. I like them, a bit understated but that's a welcome change IMO.
- Bills/Jags game being online is going to be interesting. This definitely does seem like the testing of the waters for an eventual broadband subscription. I could see the NFL using this as a power play against DirecTV in the future to bring costs down on Sunday Ticket while at the same time supplementing income with their own in house subscription service carried by Youtube, Facebook etc etc. This is definitely a long term story to take note of.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
