A .10 or around there and you're like: Well he was probably fine just a little buzzed. It's stupid to drive but we all make mistakes.

At .24 he can probably barely function. Not only that he was going nearly twice the speed limit.

Ehh, I remember one port call in Hong Kong where the ship made everyone return blow, just to show how many would've been over the limit if they were back home.

The highest on the ship was a .32 and that guy went about 245 and was half lucid. I blew a .18 and while I slurred speech I walked back to the ship just fine.
Can't speak for Blackmon but I know some high functioning drinkers. Not ment to condone his actions at all, but I know a lot of guys who can consistently walk around above .15 and not seem that drunk.

Perfect time for a PR event. Give everyday fans a chance to become an NFL official. Since 99% of fans complain about officials, give the everyday joe an opportunity to become an official. Hell, you could even make it into a "reality show" and broadcast it on NFL Network right before or after "Hard Knocks" airs on HBO.

Hell, you could even make it into a "reality show" and broadcast it on NFL Network right before or after "Hard Knocks" airs on HBO.

The first one, he would have blown under the legal limit - except he wasn't 21 yet, so he got a misdemeanor. Not saying it's right, but at the same time, I don't classify that first one as much of a "DUI".

The worst thing about both (especially this new one, where he was legitimately drunk) is that he was driving very fast.

But the NFL's replacement officials would presumably have credentials. Random fan tryouts though?

I read somewhere they will try to get College refs, although non-BCS conference ones.

Well that would make sense. Rob is, or at least I think, implying that any fan can try to be a ref. That would undermine the current NFL officials significantly more than a replacement crew of College referees.

My man Tony can be trying to get into Grad School today and tomorrow be refereeing a Saints game? Fans would lose even more respect for officials.
