Never seen Schneider/Carroll be so open about this. They're typically tight lipped and the bigger moves are usually never leaked. So this is unprecedented, in a way. Not sure what to make of it.

Where did they even come from?

Did they start because he claimed he was untouchable?

This is why I asked because there seems to be an awfully lot of load chatter out there.

In my mind, this could have started with his sideline outburst last season. Carroll lets his players be themselves and all that, but that was probably over the line in his eyes. Could be a mutual thing where both sides are just done with each other.

Sherman's name is bigger than his game at this point. It's unfortunate but seems to be the way things go with the better corners these days. It was almost better when they didn't get the respect they deserved which allowed them to stay in one place more often. A lot of guys are leaving and the new system they go to doesn't maximize their skills like the team they left did before.

How would you rank his play last year compared to previous years?

I still think he's been great, though hasn't had quite the "flashy" impact he did when he was getting 8 INTs a year in 2012 and 2013. He had a couple of rough outings against Julio and Brandon Marshall. In particular, Sherman has kind of always struggled with Marshall's physicality from what I remember.

For the most part though he has performed as I would expect from a top corner. I don't view this talk as having much to do with his performance but likely some of the recent off-field stuff.

If he were being hired as a play by play guy I would agree with you.
Oh I think he's perfect to be a color analyst I just think coming off the field and then being on the #1 broadcast team is a bit much. Then again, Simms basically did the same thing after a season on NFL Countdown on ESPN.

I actually think Romo will be fantastic in his role given some time.

Why is that though in regards to a big name QB?

                          Is it?

According to Pro Football Focus' advanced stat tracking as reported by Deadspin:
quarterbacks had a passer rating of 63.8 in the 2016 regular season when throwing at Sherman, which ranked sixth in the NFL among cornerbacks with at least 355 coverage snaps. Sherman also averaged 7.7 coverage snaps per target, which was good to rank eighth.
He's still easily one of the best cornerbacks in the league and I don't understand at all why Seattle would want to trade a player who not only is a cornerstone of their defense but also one of the most visible faces of their franchise.

The Deadspin article does make some good points about upcoming expiring contracts the Seahawks must make tough decisions on, but I still feel that giving away a great player who is still at the top of his game would be pretty foolish.

Romo doing color for the Cowboys' Thanksgiving Day game should be fun. Will prove a good test in his ability to be critical when justified. I have questions a guy so fresh removed from the NFL as a player will be right off the bat.

That was the problem Montana faced after he retired, while he didn't do color he was in the studio and provided the most boring, bland, "everybody is good at what they do" kind of commentary that NBC quietly shuffled him out the door.

It will be very interesting to see if Romo will be critical of the players and coaches out there because you never know, he could very well want to make a comeback after a year or so away from the game.
