    Re: 2012 NFL Draft Thread.

I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that the Browns are going to pick Blackmon, I can't fathom why they would do it I just think they will, well I guess I can fathom why we're the Browns but come on something good has to happen eventually doesn't it?

    Doesn't it?

If Blount really wasn't getting ANY better (they really could've put him out there on more passing plays) then the Richardson talk is probably so they can get rid of Blount. If that's the case, then it makes sense.

I don't think the Panthers set up is a good comparison though because both of those backs could take the load on any team. I'm still not sure that combo is really working because one or both have been hurt so much. Most combo backfields have RBs with different skills (like the Chargers or Saints). But those are cases were either the backs didn't come at a high price or, with the Saints, the rest of the team was in a good place where they could spend a high pick on a RB even though they had good options already.

Again, I don't think it'd be horrible. I just don't think it's the best move... and I felt the same way about Minnesota a few years ago and was dead wrong about that one.
I think if Blount is only playing on like 1/3 downs, it's not that big a deal if he occasionally stays in to block or goes out to the flat. With Richardson, he can play every down because he's a great runner and great blockers (and pretty good receiver if I recall correctly).

At the end of the day, I think it's best to take a guy like Richardson that's pretty much guaranteed to be a star at a premiere position than sitting at 5 and reaching on a guy like Kuechly or trading down and taking a chance on someone else.

If we get the chance to pick Claiborne at 5, I'd gladly take it, although I think Richardson is much more a sure thing than Claiborne. There's analysts out there that don't believe Claiborne is the best CB in the draft, whereas most analysts believe Richardson will be a star the second he takes the field.

You take Claiborne no matter if Richardson is available, RBs are easier to find as Blount isn't terrible

Hmm I'm surprised there's no radio coverage. I do have the NFL mobile app on my iPhone I'll just have to put it on NFL network and listen to it.

Here's hoping Decastro falls to the Bengals.

I agree, but from the sound of it, we likely won't have an opportunity to draft Claiborne unless we trade up to #3, and in doing so, I assume Minnesota would only make that trade if we take Richardson.

And that's the point where I would just trade down imo

Minnesota is trying to trade down to take Matt Khalil, according to PFT.

Never really thought Claibourne would go Top 3 anyway...

I feel that if you are picking in the top 5 you can't make a luxury pick. Richardson would be a luxury considering you already have a good RB with only 2 years experience that has proven he can be productive. Claiborne would fill a need at CB. I would say either select Claiborne at 5 or drop back.

Broncos86 mentioned it earlier, ESPN Radio will definitely have coverage. Hill and Stink if I'm not mistaken. Just gotta find out what your local ESPN radio station is... shouldn't be too hard.

If you can get a hold of a Sirius/XM login you can head to the ESPN Radio station there too.

Agree to disagree then. We just have different philosophies on using top 5 picks. I'd prefer to take the sure thing so that you don't blow that top 5 pick. If I'm outside the top 5 or 10, then I start taking more chances and trying to address needs more.

Yeah, if we get stuck at 5 and can't get Richardson or Claiborne, I'd like to trade down too. But if the price is right, I think I'd still prefer trading up to get a star than trade down and get a guy tha addresses a need more but is a risky pick.

Really hoping the Bears trade up to the tenth pick to get David DeCastro. He looks like a stud to me.

Forget getting a star in the draft because you can find plenty of those, but if you're trading up especially into the Top 5 then you better expect the player you're trading up for makes an impact ASAP and make your team better right away.

It`s quite possible they could take Blackmon. There is some smoke out there that they will take Blackmon and Doug Martin in the first round. That information came from Chris Mortensen, Mary Kay Cabot, and Mike Mayock. I don`t know, I think it`s just a smoke screen. I still think they will take Richardson as long as he is there. I still would not be surprised if they traded down again this year.
